Folks,
just wanted to let you know that I’ve been asked to join the Game Developers Choice Awards advisory board. These are the awards nominated and chosen by the world’s game development community to recognise and reward innovation and excellence in the art of making games.
I was surprised to be asked and am honoured to join such luminaries on the board as Dave Perry, Laura Fryer, Chris Kingsley, Hal Barwood, Eric Zimmerman and many others
I’d like to think it’s in recognition of all the good work done over the past year by all involved in the Irish chapter
You can find more on the board here: http://www.igda.org/awards/board.htm and more on the awards themselves here: http://www.igda.org/awards/

What does being on the board actually mean in real terms ?[/quote:16b49a7dc0] more work, basically!
– email discussion/brainstorming to help select the “special” award recipients (ie, Lifetime, Penguin, Maverick, Community)
– help select the 5 finalists in each craft category from all those games submitted via the open nominations process
– possibly some stage time to present an award (depending on needs/availability, etc)
– general feedback/thoughts on improving the awards/ceremony -

Really delighted Tony – great to see the global industry representatives recognising your efforts, talent, experience and knowledge – even if it might take just a little longer to erode some of the local myopia – I wish you every success and trust that you can continue to build on that platform for the future. Nice one indeed.
