Aardman go digital

That looks truly awful.

yeah but people never loved W&G/aardman for its visual realism/flair. always been about plot, jokes and incredibly clever pieces such as the family portrait opening of W&G the curse of the Were Rabbit.

but judging just by visuals. it looks weird, but they probably have cut down loads on production costs as well as time. South park, after it had moved from cardboard clippings to the digital age now only takes five days to create compared to 6 months for the pilot.

does this mean more aardman films, more regularly. I hope it does.

I mean everything looks awful from that clip; setup, story, cast, voices, the style.

I had to stop watching it because it annoyed me so much.

Visuals dont matter to me, weeble and bob is one of the funniest things around and that makes south park look like fantasia in the animation stakes.

I know I am in a minority of one, but whilst we’re here I’d like to point out that I dont like Pixar films either (except for the incredibles….but I see that more as a Brad Bird effort…)

that’s the link to the W&G were rabbit trailer. if you were to view that without knowing W&G it would look equally pathetic. wel the jokes in the W&G trailer seem funnier but in the flushed away trailer they were showing works in progress clips. they might have had only a portion of the film to convert into a trailer.

anyway can’t believe you’re judging an entire movie from just a sneak peak.

I can’t view the clip until I get home, but here’s a strange view for someone who loves 3D art.

Enough of the CG! Enough films have been ruined because of it. If you’re going to do it, then bloody well do it right. Don’t use CG just because you have the technology. Even King Kong annoyed me. I preferred the puppets.

I totally agree, one of the thing I liked about ardman was the fact they were a bunch of dedicated people willing to spend 24hours on 3 seconds of film. But I suppose money has to come into it at the end of the day.

So the jokes, premise and characters are work in progress too? Then they are in trouble.

I could clearly see that animation and sets were work in progress, I dont care about that. It could be two paper bags talking to each other as long as it was funny or interesting I couldnt care less.

I think they’re doing an OK job with the visuals, after the images have been post-produced it should have a better quality “movie” look, as well as enhanced plasticine-style look.

From the gags and the main character, I think they are trying to CG-ify the typical Hugh Grant character ( bumbling upper-class type ), which they may have non-CG problems with.
