Hello
My name is David, i’m 19 and am from N.Ireland, Co.Down. I have a Double Award AVCE in ICT for which I received a double A and a C in A level Maths. I’ currently taking a year out of studying to save up some money.
Next year I hope to do a course in Games Development somewhere in Ireland, i’d prefer not to go across water as all my family and friends are here. I have looked at a number of courses and have contacted the course advisors to get information on the courses.
From what I read on these forums IT Carlow seems to have the best course on offer, however I am unsure if I can get financial support if i chooses to study in the South. I have applied for the HND in Home Computer Entertainment at the North West Institute in Derry and the degree course at Magee in Computer Games Development. I am also thinking about applying at St John’s in Cork for their one year course (simply because there are no tuition fees for EU Students).
I was wondering if there were any students from these courses on the forums that could let me know how they have found them and what modules they are studying or anyone that could offer advise based on what they have heard about the courses.

and yes there are people from Carlow on the boards..
you might be right re fees for Carlow..but at least you are in the EU they are really high for non-EUers
