Seems like a cheap sell out (in the grand scheme of things). Presumably Activision will do like EA\Renderware and make it in house.
Surely Demonware would make more by staying independent?
Also explains the new demonware job’s (training to move to california). Presumably these guys will be the liason or something with HQ.

On another matter, a friend of mine has been talking about Vivendi looking to buy in Cork. From what he said HOK were approached to look for a site for them in Cork but its been mentioned that the deal might have fallen through and Vivendi have decided to go to Amsterdam instead. I heard there was an article in the Indo about the Irish deal being ‘done’ but didn’t see it myself.
Anyone hear more/anything about this?

Keeping with my scurrilous rumours, I’ve now heard that Havok are looking to setup in Cork. Was an article on page 5 in the examiner about it yesterday(so I’ve been told,I’m living in the UK!) and a guy from Upstart I know has seen job specs for jobs there flying around. Good news if it happens, pity my physics is fairly crap

Here’s an excerpt from a paper…don’t know which one cos I got if off of someone else but the writer seems to speak as if the Vivendi deal is almost done. I don’t believe it for a second but it would be an amazing coup, how the hell would they get 500 people in Cork?? Sorry picture is a bit big, couldn’t be arsed resizing -

More on Vivendi supposedly coming to Cork, article yesterday. Confirmed by the end of the week so we’ll know one way or the other sounds like its not gonna be much to do with games though
http://www.finfacts.com/irelandbusinessnews/publish/article_10009139.shtmlFrench firm Vivendi is expected to create up to 500 new jobs with a Cork investment that has been under detailed negotiation with the IDA for some time.
Vivendi ranks as one of the world’s leading media and telecoms firms, controlling everything from France’s most popular TV stations, to a thriving computer game subsidiary, as well as the Universal Music Group (UMG).
UMG ranks as one of the world’s dominant music groups, and now accounts for an estimated one-in-four of all cds sold worldwide.
Vivendi also has major interests in fixed-line and mobile phone operations in both France and Morocco.
Investment
The Cork investment – details of which will be confirmed later this week – is expected to revolve around telecom and digital entertainment developments.
The IDA is understood to have been in negotiations with Vivendi for some time over the proposed Cork investment.
It successfully fought off competition for the project from other EU member states as well as the Far East.

15 million!
That’s a health sum of money![/quote:7519c761fd]15 million euro? I would have thought its worth more than that alright.
Gus is right thats an average game title cost and since demonware is in a few games now, and probably a good few more to come out over the next 12-18months.But wasent the price just speculation (could have been more), also we dont know what other sorts of agreeements were made in the process.
