Took him about 20 seconds to say "video games". What a tool. How can vice city train you for that. Was he dressed like John Travolta in Saturday Night fever?
And how do they say that killing 31 is the "biggest killing ever in america history". It’s crazy.
MAYBE THE VT MASSACRE HAPPENED BECAUSE 1 IN 3 AMERICANS OWNS A GUN.
Oh but there is one very strict gun law in Virginia; you are only allowed buy one gun a week.
…and what is counter strike half life? And how do you dress up as the main character in either of these games?

Argh.. When is this guy ever going to shut up ? :? Doesn’t he realise that nobody actually cares what he thinks and that everything he says is actually completely and utterly irrelevant. I thought lawyers were supposed to be smart and be able to see things in a reasonable light, but this moron is something else. Like JM said its disgusting that these ghouls take a tradgedy like this and piggy-back onto it to better their own idiotic agenda. And shame on you Dr Phil, I’ve even less respect for you now than I had already.. :?

The problem is, that statement isn’t true, especially in the US, its a potential election trump card. However, I think the post Aphra put up about the BBFC report is intruiging and might help curb this stuff.

@JohnMonkey
I don’t think that they found a causal link. At the moment most of the studies seem to be returning that people who like violent media tend to like violent video games.

A humorous response to the computer violence debate. Even though though the video in the original post is packed with comic statements like:Doom trained him to kill[/quote:e15055d6a9] (referring to another school massacre)
Reminds me of the days after 9/11 where Microsoft flight simulator was blamed….

It is all politics, just look at our own politicians and the silly shit they come up with. You’ve got to remember also that while this is a political issue in the US at the moment, the violent games issue has been used by politicians in other countries (UK, Austrailia) for election reasons. Most people who make video games are not intrested in politics. Unfourtunately if we are ever going to prove how stupid these people really are we have to get involved in their ego trips.

Also comment from his roommate at the bottom.
Basically didn’t own any games and was never seen playing them.

Mr. Gates, your company is potentially legally liable the [sic] harm done at Virginia Tech. Your game, a killing simulator, according to the news that used to be in the Post, trained him to enjoy killing and how to kill.[/quote:3f7f981ca9]Isn’t it sierra/Vivendi who publish Counterstrike?
Did you hear what the NRA said about the Virginia tragedy? Something along the lines of: ‘If all of the students had been carrying arms this wouldn’t have happened’
Brilliant bit of logic, that

yes arm all the drunken students and there will never be another shooting on a collage campus again. um.. maybe not
i also think alot of the news sites are saying that he was reenacting scenes from some violent movie in some of those pics he sent to nbc. so therefore violent moves are to blame not violent video games :)

Vivendi published earlier versions, but after the split, Valve used Microsoft to publish the XBox version of the game.
Of course this could be JT getting it backwards and talking about MS windows as a platform rather than MS games as a publisher.
Its also likely that JT is going after MS because he has (yesterday I believe) settled with Take Two out of court and is now severely limited in what he can do or say about take two, its products, or any of its subsidiaries.

Indeed it is and thats what made me laugh so much. :)nifty is probably right though, its probably just him getting it backwards.

apperently its guns n roses fault now. cuz he wrote a play based on a song where 2 sgtudents are thinkin bout killin their teacher

It is Gun’s N’ Roses fault. He was on the Nightrain when his Estranged Sweet Child O’ Mine left him. He said You Could Be Mine and was in Paradise City, but his Rocket Queen left him, and then the uni got a terrible Welcome To The Jungle.

JT shouldn’t be dismissed too lightly. He keeps saying that games are used by prospective public-shooting sociopaths as training tools. This phrase keeps ringing over and over through his diatribes, and it becomes an automatic concept association in the ears of those who have no personal interest in games. It’s a common technique with public speakers, like most of the top neo-cons who have nice ones like Shock’n’awe and War on Terror (their PR people are the best – who thinks of global warming anymore, its climate change).
So in some Doomsday scenario where people in power actually listen to JT, you might see games censored not because they cause violence, but because they expedite it. Like guns. But with a smaller political lobby.

Well either way he’s still at it. Halo is his new target as well as further attacks on Microsoft’s Counter-Strike.
