I am not the best speller myself but….
There are a few around here such as Dark Water studios in London Derry/Derry but I am not sure how willing they would be to take on people for work experience I will be looking for a job their myself next year but the industry in Ireland over all is very small.
I know from a guy who takes a games class in Northern Ireland who came to my college to talk to our games/media class that even students on degree courses have a lot of trouble finding work experience for the year they have to do it.

Instinct Technology – Muff, Co. Donegal
There is also Phooka in Derry

Hi Lothiel_Kylith,
CanDo are only a small Belfast based company ( 1 coder, 2 3D artists ), so we’re unable to take on any long term work experience, but we have taken on a few students for a week, which consisted of them seeing what we do on a day to day basis, making coffee ( only joking :), and learning Blender so that they can have something to work on after the work experience ( basically going through this tutorial – http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BSoD/Introduction_to_the_Game_Engine ).
Some of the other NI companies might be able to take students on for a longer time, and give more specific game training.
Unfortunately, games companies in NI are as sparse as games companies in the rest of Ireland.

there have been a couple of spin-off companies from the ICE course at NWIFE in Derry as they have an incubation centre there. If you contact the college they can provide more details.

Is there a download link anywhere for Recall? ( assuming that it’s being distributed to schools for free ) – it’s always interesting to try out games or demos developed locally in Ireland.

There’s recall disks being done up as i speak.
As for digital distribution we’ll be putting it out through our service when it launches.
Phooka are on hiatus afaik at the minute.
The other companies (games related) in the incubation centre are
Silvertongue Software
Doodle Dawg Ent.
