      Hi there Jamie,

Nice work on the Atari article, it was a very interesting read!

If you’re looking for another one to write, I’d really like to see one on Taintech, from Dundalk. If you contact clevercelt, he’ll hopefully be able to fill you in and maybe even get some screenshots etc.

we tried hard to find a picture of the factory…if anyone has any to hand please send them on and we will add to the feature.

when I was interviewing companies back in 2001 Taintech was officially ‘dormant’. I wonder will it ever be resurrected.

      Aphra.

      Hi Aphra,

I don’t know if Taintech will be resurrected, but if there is an interest in articles about previous games companies in Ireland, one on Taintech would be great to read about – as well as working on prototyping different games in-house, they also gave CanDo their first break in Ireland.

I know of two 3D games that were prototyped there, and it might be interesting to hear how support for the Irish industry has changed since their day ( if at all! )

some more trivia: Havok’s first customer was Taintech (we were Telekinesys Research Ltd. back then). I’m pretty sure we framed the cheque. Thanks Mick, Paul and the lads…

Re Taintech, the big question for Clevercelt and Mal .. was Danger Magee a Duck or a Goose. I can’t remember although I do remember getting it wrong a lot! :)

Great write-up Clevercelt, and cheers for the Max screenshots Chris – those bring back some foggy memories!

It’s cool to see Danger again, it was def shaping up to be a cool game ( esp at the time! )

Just got a message from the digital media forum, about a report being launched tomorrow Dec 16th in Dublin by the IIEA:

Its called ‘the next leap’ http://iiea.com/digital/.

and there’s some clearly heavy weight input gone into it, including…. from our own :

      Jamie McCormick, founder, Game Developers.ie[/quote:5ee42d8238]

OMG, I used to work on sound for this game.
I’m pretty sure he was a goose btw.
I vaguely remember deliberating did my goose sound too much like a duck, and was there even that much of a difference if the duck was as large as he….
