Recent article in Irish Examiner quoting Sir Gerry Robinson:

He said if the Irish economy is to get back on track, the Government has to adopt a "totally pragmatic" approach to getting firms using cutting edge technologies to base themselves here in Ireland.

He identified the computer games industry as one of those potential sectors that, if lured here, could generate huge earnings globally and create well-paid jobs with a very high skills content.

It was exciting to hear successful Irish experts recommend to our government ministers that investment in education, arts and technology is critical to Ireland’s future and requires their continued focus, funding and support.

GD.ie members have long advocated tax incentives. Progressive nations, such as Canada, have already adopted this approach – hopefully Ireland begins to reinvent itself sooner rather than later.

      Thanks for the article link.

Brian Cowen’s been quoted (on siliconrepublic.com) as wanting to transform Ireland into Europe’s silicon valley, which if in any way attempted by the Govt. would be just great.

      B.

Would be nice to see someone like Ubisoft moving into Ireland if the tax incentives were there.

Recently, we did a big investment in Toronto. That could be Dublin or Cork if the climate was right.lol.
