Dyslexia

I would imagine programming would sound most daunting aspect of game development but 99% of the skill is logical thinking and not accuracy of syntax. Compilers make it quite clear where mistakes are made.

if your programming already – using visual studio – and are having problems, check out Visual Assist, its a add-on, you can trial it for 30-days, it quickly points out spelling issues, and if it works for you I think its cheap to license – maybe $29 or so?

I actually knew a dyslexic programmer.

He actually had no trouble writing code. I’m guessing code writing used a different part of his brain then building linguistic sentences.

I know several dyslexic programmers and designers. And even more artists. Its not a blocker by any means.

I have dyslexia my self it effects me in spelling and some times reading strange words aloud from paper. Honesty I just get on with it and don’t let it get in my way or be an excuse for why I can’t do things.

I am sure some people have it much worse than I have though.

Hey, I’m studying game development in College and two of my classmates have dyslexia.. they have no bother getting on and doing all they’re work so I wouldn’t be worry much about it.

I’m studying Games Development in Donegal in second year. I’m dyslexic but have not encounter any problems as of year with any coding or using any programs. The only time i find it a problem is when we have a project to write up but a lot of the projects are off topic to programming and are clearly space fillers. So if your interesting in programming it will not hold you back one bit. Programming is logic not the same as reading and spelling in my opinion. The Letterkenny IT has great support for dyslexics they provide you with a laptop and any additional support you may wish to request, example copies of teachers notes. It will free you up from taking notes in class which i personally find difficult to take notes and take in watch a lecture is trying to get across.
