Ok this may be answered already somewhere in da forums but I could not find the answer anywhere.

My question is, can you develop apps for iphone and itouch using a windows machine or can it only be done using a mac?

Also, if it can only be done using a mac, is there any alternative for developing on a windows based machine??

Thanks in advance for your answers.

      It depends on the app.

If your app can be done as a web app then I’d suggest you look at PhoneGap or Titanium or other similar apps. I think you still need a Mac for the final bit but you could easily get the use of one (and if you can’t, ask me).

IF you’re doing games, a lot of your work likely won’t need to be on the Mac – as long as you use an engine which can work on Mac – such as Unity or Cocos or if you stick to C (C++ will work too). Unity for example seems to do everything known to man.

Pop along to one of the XCake meetings in Dublin or Belfast (or more recently, Galway) and meet up with guys who will definitely be interested in helping you out.

Thanks for that, however I wont be fit 2 make any meetings in Ireland this year. I’m in Australia, but I’m very interested in getting into app development when I get home.

I see that adobe flash CS5 will have the capabilities to export files as .ipa, that will be pretty handy for windows developers wont it??

What day of the month are those meetups on again? Had a look on x-cake but couldn’t find details. Is there a date yet for the iPadDevCamp?

      Cheers!
