Pretty pictures.
What kind of cash have you got behind the business?
Do you have a business plan you could share?
Can you fund a team to develop and test PC, iOS and Android ports? You’ll need at least 2 programmers. Why are you targeting 3 platforms right away?
Why not target one platform and see if there is any success at first? It might be wise before you spend all your resources on trying to target three at once with a small team. I’d go for one first (Probably PC or Android because the code will probably end up more portable) with a view to porting to other platforms later. -

Hey,
Thanks for the post, some great advise!
ShipAntics will be a low budget digitally distributed episodic game. We intend on using the model developed by Telltale Games, with episodes being released in quick succession, to allow for reduced development time between titles and quicker delivery of content to consumers. This will hopefully allow lower development costs because the game can be sold in stages instead of all at once after a long development time. This in turn makes the game cheaper for consumers.
We plan on making our games for PC first; selling them on Steam, other direct download sites and our own website. From the revenue from these sales we intend to then port the games to iOS and Android.
The thing is we have to keep this in mind when building the game, so the controls will work well on touch screen devises and so it will be easier to port. We are currently looking at building the game in Unity because it can be used to build games for all of these systems. At the moment the only cash we have behind the project, is our own but we are in the early stage of start up and we are applying for multiple start-up funds. We plan on using these funds to make a demo as part of a crowd funding campaign on KickStarter.
We also plan on creating a short form web series with a narrative that will complement that of the game, telling characters back-stories and revealing hidden side quest puzzles in the game. We want to create ShipAntics as a multi-platform, transmedia world that will engage an audience across all possibilities of different media and then…… we plan to take over the world! wah ha ha!!!

That is much better, now people thinking about it know where you are aiming for and how you plan to achieve it. Might help attract more interest :).

Steky, in which language you program in Unity?
Also, is this a full time or part time role? -

To be honest we haven’t decided what language or program we want to use yet.
The main reason we are looking a Unity is because it supports all the systems we want to release the games on. But its not a perfect fit because it is a 3D engine and we are making a 2D game.
We are open to suggestions for other programs/engines and have been looking into making the game with Corona Game Edition or even Flash. The role would be part time to make the demo and then possibly full time if the KickStarter is a success. If you wish to talk in more detail you can email us at shipantics@gmail.com
Thanks again!
