Folks,
it looks like the 2nd Chapter event will take place some time in mid- to late-April. Sony Ireland have confirmed they will provide a speaker on the European launch of the PSP. Exact times & dates to be confirmed

change of date to the 2nd event:
Wednesday, May 5th at the Digital Hub is looking most likely, but to be confirmed next week
It also looks like we’ll have 2 speakers from Sony for the event. Watch this space…

Speakers & venue confirmed for May 5th
The speakers from Sony are – Zeno Colaco, Vice President, Publisher & Developer Relations and Mark James, Account Manager 3rd Party Relations (techy)
The venue will once again be the Liberties Learning Studio in The
Digital Hub at 8pmThe content of the talks has to be confirmed, but it looks likely that apart from an overview of the PSP, they will also talk a little about –
– how to get accredited as a developer
– the development/publishing/distribution process
– the tools and technical issues related to the platform
– how it compares to existing consoles/PC development -

Cool…I’m back in Dublin on the 5th. Will try to make it.
Any idea how long the event will be?
Trying to figure out what my plans are going to be… -

hard to say exactly, but I’d reckon on 1.5 – 2hrs… and then there’s the pub afterwards, of course… probably Magruders next door to the Hub

If PSX was what it said it was going to be originally it probably would have sold. They just dropped way too many features for it to make it a piece of technology that was going to be wanted.

And you’d think as they cut away the features they’d also cut away at the price, but noooooo…
Perhaps a price drop will help to pick up sales. Just look at the Gamecube.

Perhaps if they made it look not like a big white plastic box

…and put a sticker saying ‘Nintendo’ on it.

Meh, so you’re one of ‘those’ people…Perhaps if they made it look not like a big white plastic box

Yes, but again, look at the Nintendo Gamecube. It’s the ugliest thing ever to come out of Japan yet it sold dramatically after a price drop. *Looks at Ivan* ;) -

Killarney is beautiful, there will be plenty of other opportunities to inflict liver damage.

Hi all,
As you know the Sony event is tonight.
These events are a good opportunity to hear some experts in the field present information and answer questions but they are also a good place to network and meet new people. I will be around the door area as people enter and please make yourself known to me and the others.
I suspect there will be some chatting over a drink after too..
Aphra..

I hope you guys have fun tonight. I wish I could be there but I must remain completely focused on my exams. I’ll definitely make it to the L/Derry event. :)
Will there be an article written about tonight’s event?

Interesting talk.
Thought they went on the “oh, aren’t sony great!” for a little too long though…was getting tedious.
And as for saying the PSP is not a rival to GBA or DS is pure nonsense. The arguement made was like saying (in Sony terms), The PS2 is not a rival to GameCube, cos GameCube is a game console and not an entertainment system. -
