This is a fairly topical issue and in the US the American Psychological Association is currently reviewing the scientific literature on the effects of violence in media, esp. games. See https://www.apa.org/pi/families/violent-media.aspx

A group of games researchers have written them an open letter questioning some of the association’s previous policy advice. It makes interesting reading. See http://www.christopherjferguson.com/APA%20Task%20Force%20Comment1.pdf

      The debate goes on

I think the point Ivan is that the link is not proven scientifically either!

I don’t work in this field, but it seems to me that it took 8 years to formulate a reply saying the APA’s study might be wrong. I picked the wrong career, I could have gotten paid for ‘suggesting’ or guessing about the link to violence and media. My god… >_<

Anyway, we all know that it was the introduction of rock n’roll, counter culture, drugs and the subsequent decline of morals from the 1950’s onwards that has brought us here, not videogames ;)

well they had to do all the studies to prove and disprove things too!

      science doesn’t move that fast
