"400 new jobs at Stream Global in Dublin. The firm has won a contract with Microsoft to support customers of its Xbox 360 games console to the European market. " http://www.rte.ie/business/2010/0625/jobs.html
What are EI saying to these support companies that they aren’t saying to development houses?
I think it probably boils down to the fact that they can provide employment for a larger number of people (and possibly longer term) than a development house might.
It’s still good news, if they do a good job (they will) others may follow. It still is a little too easy to move support centres, but not too easy. A number of companies are looking at the effect of offshoring support and customer churn (all dependant on the value of the customer and in this case gamer and it looks like Microsoft values it’s European customers).
