so I wonder what does all this banking crisis mean for the games industry?
on one of my mailing lists people are suggesting that it will accelerate the move to download and be tough for higher priced console games. I guess it will also impact on new game start ups looking for start up finance from banks..
I have been reading in a few places that its good for the game industry, as games are seen as good value (cheap considering how many hours you get out of them). Sales figures show that the industry is still growing.
Chances are it will have little effect or may help them. Researc has shown that in all time of depression, spending on entertainment doesn’t drop by the same amount as people are drawn to looking for something to escape from the depression. Cinema’s golden age was during a depression…
DON’T PANIC LADS!! THE RECESSION IS OVER!! The LVA and the VFI are imposing a price freeze for the next year!! That means you have a whole year of being brutally ripped off before they come for the eyes out of your head in 2010!
