      Hi guys,

Great to see you all last night, it’s nice to see that the shindigs have become so popular, and i’d say that last night was one of the best attended in the two years we’ve been having them!

I have an idea though, for the Christmas shindig. I was thinking that considering everyone is going to be so busy coming home, and a lot of our members who will be back for Christmas but not before. Would it then make sense to have the Christmas shindig on Tuesday 27th of December. Most people will be off that week anyway, it will allow people to get Christmas over with and you can all bring along your shiny psp’s and try them out with your new games, and it will hopefully give a few people who want to travel up to Dublin anyway time.

Or else, would it make sense for our Galway contingent to run a local Christmas shindig and maybe up in the North too?

      Stick down your thoughts

      Jamie

Before is good for me, def can’t do the 28th as its my B day, sorry about that.

And last nights shindig was great, as you know it was my first… of many now. You guys are such a welcoming bunch and a pity I didn’t get to talk to all who were there. guess thats what next time is for. I thank you all for the great chatting and a very special thank you for the beers (you know who you are).

How did Fibbers end up anyways? I bailed en route, was all tuckered out and had to get up for work at 8 in the morning :(. Still paying for it this evening though, but Leafs vs. Habs tonight, can’t be missed….. go Leafs go!!!

Kinda pissed off about that so called shindig that was supposed to be on Friday. I went to this place Mahaffy’s around 1940 on Friday and asked several people where they the guys from gamedevelopers and got the blankest looks and people wondering WTF I was talking about. The place just seemed full of student and lecturers from Trinity (They were probably all called Pronsias and spoke with D4 accents too being form Trinity college)

Ok like, seriously. where were ye sitting? Most boring hour I spent in a pub ever sitting on my own. Then I went to see Exodus in The Voodoo lounge, which kinda made up for it. But still I wanted to meet some new people as I only reluctantly moved up to Dublin for work and don’t know many people there! Ah well, I suppose theres next month. I’ll remember the post it note next time, might help.

I didn’t get there til 10.30ish, and it took me a few sweeps to try and identify a group of people I’ve never met, but sure enough worked up the courage and jumped right in and there they were. Admittedly, someone had said look for the group of gamer lookin people, which nearly made me join in with a group of funny lookin goths in the back. But I played it safe and started with the nice people, which worked out good. Perhaps no one or only a few were present when you got there, Pkelly83, sorry your first shingdig didn’t work out as well as mine.

I did a quick head count at one stage of the evening and there were 23 people sitting at about 4 tables in the main area of the bar. It’s a pity you didnt spot us (and it has happened before that people have missed us). Maybe we need to get that purple and pink T-Shirts idea off the ground again…

They were the gamer people. We’re the *computer* gamer people. A much more evolved breed altogether… :)

We should get a mascot, some sort of penguin or something, and entrust it someone who almost never misses a shindig, I’m looking at Aphra, Tony or Dave here. Stick an image of the mascot up here somewhere, and each shindig plonk the guy down in a visible position on the table.

Anyway I’m not surprised we were hard to id, at some point there were a phenomenal 4 attractive women in our group. Well at least we’re not sticking to old stereotypes :)

The last people I thought to ask were the guys in the middle of the pub. The least likely group of game developers I ever saw. Although I have only been in the industry proper for 3 months, so perhaps I am just looking for sterotypes. I was the loner with long hair sitting on the stool at the window facing pearse st. I thought the goths or the guys with the robot kit were you guys!! Aw well, next month then, was only planning on staying an hour or so anyhow.

Quite. And where did Tony get that chick from? *rhetorical*
Kim, who looked like she was born in fibbers, lives in a place called Nobb Hill, and works at a pretty high level in games? I mean, what the hell are we all doing in this country when people really live like this?
Thats it, I’m movin to California.

I don’t think she got the whole fibbers vibe, I mean we warned her it was a dive, but words can only do so much……

Also they haven’t got anything remotely good by way of goth/industrial playing there these days.

And here was me thinking it was about the cheap drink

Have a quick poll on predictions for how much extra stuffing Tony will need for his Santa Belly :)

What is the whole ‘fibbers vibe’ these days? Like gangsta rap, fibbers hasn’t been consistent with the integrity of its own roots in about ten years…its a combo goth-gay bar for christ’s sake! I’ve met one person in my whole life that that label would fit comfortably onto…no wonder its half empty on a whatever-night-that-was-we-were-in-there.

She was probably underserviced by our hospitality though – I wonder if a shindig is the best aspect of the gd crowd to show to visiting foreign dignitaries – irish people getting drunk? how novel!

When I finish me cabbage and bacon, I’m jumping straight on the donkey and cart to post a strongly chalked slate to them yanks! After calling in at the pub first of course :)

So if we were to visit her we’d all go up to Haight-Ashbury to check out a Donovan gig [Mellow Yellow] and wear flowers in our hair?

Actually, I could go for that :D
