Hi everyone,
I was there today and there was a great turnout, and it was all really positive.
Anyway, I thought I’d collate some of the coverage, please feel free to add some too, and maybe if some of the college groups want to use this to get some PM’s going.
One BIG issue brought up is that the Dare team need to have at least one team member from the other side of the border. There wasn’t anyone from the North at the event, but if you either are an individual, looking for a team to join, or are a team, and need someone from north or south of the border, please use this post to get in touch.
Great fun, and well done to everyone involved
here has been some coverage in Silicon Republic today also: http://www.siliconrepublic.com/innovation/item/25768-dare-to-be-digital-to-offer/ & on Inside Ireland too: http://insideireland.ie/2012/02/10/gaming-sector-opportunities-to-be-highlighed-in-dare-to-be-digital-launch-54972/

I’m from the North of Ireland and would love to get involved in an Irish team however I believe it’s only northern Ireland students who go to a local university. I go to a English university and specialize in 3D graphics, rigging and some engine work.

I would check that…it seems strange to have a ‘from NI’ rule and then rule out those attending English unis…
that is worth questioning IMO
email the Digital Hub or whoever is running the Irish heats..

Yeah, that was something brought up at the event. There was Northern Irish students from the same Southern college, so I think they were looking into the exact definition of the rule.
I’ve contacted the organisers of Dare and pointed them to this thread, so hopefully they’ll be able to clarify?

Yeah, fair enough.. I have a strong feeling it is for those attending a Northern Ireland university like queens or ulster.
For those reasons I’m going in a team of English students =/
Hopefully ‘if’ we got through I will get to meet the Irish team!! :o

I met someone from the Digital Hub yesterday and asked them about the N/S rule. I think they will be flexible but do contact them when you have a team in mind.
best
Aphra.
