Turner Broadcasting is to sponsor Dare to be Digital..
that can only be good for the competition I suspect. But interesting that a more traditional media company is getting in on the act…they own CNN etc.

The Digital Hub Development Agency, in partnership with Belfast City Council and the University of Abertay, Dundee, Scotland, are delighted to announce ‘Dare to be Digital Ireland 08’.
An information session, detailing how your students can take part in this exciting games competition will be held on 28th of February 2008 at 12:30pm in Digital Exchange, Crane St, The Digital Hub, Dublin 8. This event will provide students and college faculty with an opportunity to meet practitioners from the games industry and to learn what it takes to work in this growing sector. Students will also learn first hand what is involved in participating in DARE and they will have a chance to meet former participants and to pose questions to them and to the competition organisers from the University of Abertay.
Dare to be Digital is open to third level students interested in developing an innovative product in the games sector suitable for any platform. This event will allow students and tutors to hear information about the competition, meet previous participants, and interact with potential partners from other 3rd level institutions and industry professionals. Dare to be Digital teams must consist of 5 members and collaboration between colleges is encouraged.
We will be in touch with you in the near future to outline how your faculty/students can participate in this event. If you have any queries in the meantime, please do not hesitate to email: daretobedigital@thedigitalhub.com Tel: 01 4806200For further information on Dare to be Digital Ireland, please visit: http://www.daretobedigitalireland.com

Have they been hosted in Trinity before?
Would be cool for IET class to give pointers to entrants as a distraction from dissertations, though we would probably be more interested in new Wii Tennis competitors :) -

I don’t believe it is any secret; the winning teams were Infection Vector (Dundalk IT) and Outer Box Experience (UUMagee).
We are hosting the teams in our XNA lab in TCD for the next 9 weeks. They’re visiting us for the first time tomorrow afternoon and then will kick off proper next Monday.
Best of luck to them!
Steve
