Yeah definitely like to meet up before Christmas. Our Christmas booze up is on the 12th, any other Friday I’ll be in Dublin from now til Santa comes calling.

That kinda leaves the 19th as the only other option…not particularly long after the last one (not that that is a bad thing). The next 2 weeks are the 26th and the 2nd of January. I’m pretty sure Mahaffeys is available for any of the weekends.

Well I think we should fix it asap so the 19th it is…same place since they are very nice to us and no-one has complained..
If people are around earlier than 7.30 we could grab some food – not a Christmas dinner or anything.. but we could book somewhere nearby..

Mahaffey’s is out so close to christmas – its going to be one of their busiest days this year. Alternatives?

How about The Lobby, err, in Cork :)
Eoin (I’ll do my best to get to this one).

Well Mahaffeys said they would be very busy alright but I wouldn’t rule it out. They can’t guarantee us seats..but I for one don’t mind that. Can’t expect much else week before Christmas.. unless we move further towards the docks!

So what do people think of Aphra’s idea of going for a quiet meal before making our way into the melee that will be the Dublin pub scene the Friday before Christmas? If people are interested maybe they could post here and we can look at reserving a table somewhere. If people have preferences for food types / restaurants etc, maybe they could make those suggestions too.

Guys / Gals
I’m going to look at booking a restaurant tomorrow, so if your are interested can you please post here or at least PM me…I need to know numbers. People are of course welcome to drop along to mahaffeys too even if they dont fancy the meal, but it is going to be busy and loud there, so having a good old games related chat may prove difficult.

I don’t know what time I’ll be able to get to Dublin by, Dave, so count me out for the meal. I will of course be dying of thirst by the time I get there, so I’ll see you in Mahaffys. Have your “Revolutions” theories handy so I can shoot them down and win ….;)

Dave just rang me to confirm booking made for Trastevere, Temple Bar Square at 6.30 pm – the restaurant with all the windows! The booking is only for 5 so the rest of you will have to to chance their arm and drop in, or make your own booking.
See the rest of you in the pub, Mahaffeys, afterwards..

Well the date has been settled and it looks like it will be in Mahaffeys again but they are likely to be fairly packed…unless we get there about mid day they can’t keep us seats. Now there is a challenge for us!
Mahaffeys pub is on the corner of Pearse st/westland row, at the back of Trinity College and near Pearse Street Dart station in Dublin.
Time: from 7.30 pm

And the scaffolding is gone now too… :)

a few of us are going for dinner at 6.30 so we won’t arrive until probably around 8pm but the rest of you should try and meet in the pub..I have some posters so hopefully we will pin that up on the walls beside us so new people can find us…
see you all later..

I won’t be there either, not back in the country til sunday….. It’ll happen sometime, though, that I’ll be in the country at the right time and so have no excuse for not being there, I’m sure of it.

Had a pint there between 8:30 & 9 but could see any group… maybe next time

Woody you probably weren’t the only one who showed up but couldn’t see anyone. It was fairly quiet – I was there from 8 onwards, was 8.40 before I met another lonely soul, Mark from Codemasters. He had been there since 6.30, impressive persistence. Not long after part of the dinner party showed up and Pete and friends showed up. We sat in at the back of the pub, plenty chat was had and the drunkenness set in. Later on.. well what goes on tour stays on tour and I think everyone had a good laugh.
