Actually, go ahead and tell me what you think of games that get made into movies, and lets leave Super Mario Brothers out of this one……..

I did a bit of research on games into movies and in the name of research watched the following fine examples..
Super Mario Brothers (1993)
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)
Final Fantasy (2001)
Resident Evil….only missed out on ..
Double Dragon (1993)
Street Fighter (1994)
Mortal Kombat (1995)
Wing Commander (1999)we found that of the eight made before 2002 only two made any money at all in the cinema…Mortal Kombat and Lara Croft…
budget isn’t everything either…look at what they spent on Final Fantasy!
Aphra.
PS as to what I thought of them..will tell you over a pint on Friday

Haven’t seen Resident Evil, but I’ve (partly) watched most of the others at some stage. Most notable is perhaps Final Fantasy : The Spirits Within, a useless story but an incredible achievement from a techie and artistic point of view, and theres an FF2 in the works. There have also been rumours about a Max Payne movie and a Metal Gear Solid tie in. The PC game “Nocturne” which some of you may know was also rumoured to be heading for the silver screen. Some of the Manga movies that were made of Street Fighter are well worth a look too, just stay away from Kylie and Jean Claude!!

Don’t forget ‘House of the Dead’, unbelievably bad as it is they did include quick snippets from the game between scenes (I don’t think they had much else to fill the space…)

Actually thats a good point : The Street Fighter anime movies are the best ever game > movie conversion. Good flicks.

I almost forgot!!! Not strictly an original game to movie but Aliens Vs Predator is in production at the mo, with the same director as Resident Evil I believe. There was a script for this floating around on the web a few years ag that was actually OK, but seems they saw fit to rewrite it from scratch. For anyone interested, you can see the teaser here and a making of featurette here
