      Hi all,

I was just at a very interesting workshop on games in Bristol called Power Up, Games, Ideology and Play. If interested there is more info on their website. Power-Up

There are a number of game conferences coming up in the next few months. Good if you want to get an overview as to what academics are getting up to.

      1. Digital Games Industries: Developments, Impact and Direction – Manchester, 19-20th September. See here

      2. Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA) Inaugural conference in Utrecht, The Netherlands, 4-6th November.
      More here.

      Aphra.

Myself and two colleagues here in DCU, Roddy Flynn and Pat Brereton have received some research money from DCU to start a project on users of new media – including DVDs, online games and off line console games…

Roddy has lost no time in signing up for the Star Wars online game…I’ll be examining a few new console games in detail so if you have any suggestions of interesting games with really innovative features let me know…

all in the name of science!

      Aphra.
