As some of you know the IGDA’s global games jam is coming up on the last weekend of the month.
Tipperary Institute is participating from Ireland and Phil has just informed me that the Tipperary venue is fully booked and that there will be pics and info at the following URL about the event. see http://www.gamesfleadh.ie/ggj
I look forward to hearing more about the weekend and the projects that emerge.
Aphra.
PS if any other Irish venues are taking part please let me know. Last time I tried to check the IGDA’s list the link would not work.

Is this an actual competition or more like NanoWriMo? I can’t seem to find any actual rules anywhere (for the London jam at least) so I’m guessing this just about the spectacle of a lot of people making quick games at the same time world wide

The people who have registered view the GGJ 09 as an opportunity to start their games portfolio.
We plan to demo the games at Games Fleadh.
Participants get to see a global indie keynote.
They will receive a GGJ 2009 pin, a TShirt and bragging rights.
There will also be some nice certificates, best game, best art …..etc
Its pretty cool that its a worldwide event and something worthy for their resume.

(thats if we remember to turn on the webcam  )

Defend your growing base with a railgun, thats one on rails, not the electromagnetic one.
Its set in the 1940s desert and you are continually being assaulted by TanksMartin

Eight great game concepts were pitched between 6.00 and 7.00 last night. Four teams are now working on 5 mins of gameplay, for four of those games – based on the GMT timezone constraints. Go team!

Registrations will open in a few weeks for event in Tipperary, this is a ‘student only’ event due to logisitics – such as insurance :-(
Venus will run for 24/2 so the full 48 hours.
