well it must be the time of year or something but we have been nominated for a golden spider award this year for best community/charity site. we don’t have to pay to enter this award competition although we do pay if we want to attend the dinner in the Burlo.
for more see http://www.goldenspiders.ie/
I guess we should be flattered by all the attention!!
Aphra.

Not sure if I’m entitled to, but I recently got put in charge of marketing here (didn’t think it’d take long ) so (i) I get to pick my gigs and (ii) I’d be at the gd table, if I’m wanted and not gonna be sitting on my miserable self

‘right… can we do headcounts? Definitely going / Maybe going (fairly certain) / Maybe going (-ish)?
I’ll start the ball rolling – I’m definitely going.
Hey fitch – ’tis normal, these Gala night things don’t come cheap and are rarely paid for (some sponsors may ‘lighten’ the bill, but not all of it). Unless they are organised by a professional Association for its Members (e.g. mine, APTMA) and paid for through Members’ subscriptions and the slush f[gag]……[/gag]

Hmm…according to the shortlist they have posted on their site, we haven’t been selected after all.

well we did get an e-mail saying we were nominated. Not sure now what we were nominated for…? I will be asking them given that we were thinking of forking out money to attend the event..

response to my Q stated that there were two stages to the selection process – nomination and then the creation of a short list whereby each nomination was judged against certain criteria. It seems we were nominated but did not make it past the selection process for the short list.
It would have been nice to know there were two steps in the process..
and what the criteria were..
anyway, looks like I won’t be going then either..

When’s that, then? On the 1st instead of the Spids? Or on the 2nd because it’s a Friday ( )? And are we not pre-empting the December ‘dig?
-

2nd a bit short notice for a shindig? (and quite close to the last…)
16th or 23rd were 2 dates that were mooted for an actual shindig (16th would get my vote).A dinner could be an option on the 1st/2nd though.
Incidentally, did someone mention a xbox360 launch event or something on the 1st?

Dave[/quote:f157d14cd6]16th gets my vote too for the ‘Dig (nice one, Steph!)
drinkies & grub on 2nd is a nice optional extra. I’ll be down for the IGDA meeting anyway, and Aphra and myself could head along after that if anyone’s game (can’t deprive Aphra of a guna-wearing opportunity!!)

grub on 16th leading to shindig afterward?

Yea that was me. My mates who work in retail told me about it. Tickets are very limited even for them and some chains didn’t even get tickets, so dunno if even I’ll be able to go. Thought maybe gd.ie would of gotten some like what happened with the Sony party, but I guess at this stage maybe not, no matter… Go about your lives people.

I can’t do 23rd and after, can’t do 9th either, so 16th is all good here :D

16th is looking like a goer…I am going to a concert that evening now but can make it after…
I guess Omen and Kyotokid will have problems with that date…?
this Friday impromptu drinks after IGDA meeting sounds good ..just checking with my other half (now he is in the country!) before I confirm that.

Not flying in until the 21st. -

no reason why some of us can’t meet up with Omen & Kyotokid after Xmas… as well as the Shindig on 16th
just a thought… there’s no way we’ll find a single date to suit all over the Xmas period
-
01/12/2005 at 3:22 pm #27924AnonymousInactive
How about the 25th of December?
-
01/12/2005 at 3:37 pm #27926AnonymousInactive
To tell the truth, other than getting on and off a plane, I don’t think I’ll be in Dublin over xmas.
