Do you think I could find work after a game design course? I will probably do a computer science degree. In case it’s difficult to find work in game development.
So, what is the game development job market like in dublin? -

Have you looked for any game development jobs posted in Dublin atm? What did you find?

try sticking "games" into indeed.ie and it’ll list pretty much all the games jobs that are on the various job sites at the moment. obviously there will be duplication between the same job posted on multiple sites, or different recruitment agencies posting the same job spec, but it’ll give you a decent idea of what’s out there.

I’m not at all qualified or experienced enough to work as a game developer. I am thinking about getting into it though.

well if you don’t have the experience, then maybe consider some of the non-development jobs that are out there. there are customer service, games master, and game operations roles available in a number of companies (ie Zynga, Gala, EA, Blizzard) in Ireland

Yes, I have done a little. But I started this thread because I am interested to hear about other peoples experience’s. If they would be willing to share them.

Hope the catholic right wing loons (Lucinda Creighton’s crew) in Pearse St don’t figure out what the parent company’s main business is…
It would be funny to see pickets outside though

Yeah, it is cool ye are being allowed complete independence there.
My 5 years spent in PopCap were basically just porting so I can’t really complain :)[/quote:26e634c355]
Yup. We had some good arguments over bugs there :). I’m still learning not to get stressed out with testers ;).
There is hopefully going to be a few more games related things taking off in Galway over the next while as well and not just crappy call centers.

Yeah hopefully I’ll be finding some employment myself soon enough. I just had a crack at applying to super hippo, I sent a couple emails to digit but received no response. I imagine they were inundated with applications too :?
