Hi everybody, hope you all had a lovely Christmas and all the best for the new year.

I am a sound designer and composer studying sound for video games and at the moment I have a project related to mobile games so I’m looking for specific information related to that. I know that we can’t have the massive scores and samples that we have for DVD and Blu-Ray games, but, that we can do more than General Midi. I’m having a hard time actually finding some decent information on the subject that is specific to mobile games.

By mobile I mean ios or android platforms. The prototype I’m working on is for ios.

Thanks in advance if you can help me with this.

P.S. There is a book called "Game Audio 101: Mobile" but unfortunately as a student I simply cannot afford it at this stage.

      Hey,

I remember there was an interview on http://www.indiegamepod.com/ with a guy doing contract audio (composing and FX) work for iPhone games and the tricks he was having to use. I just can’t find the podcast right now.

Other places that might be worth checking are youtube for talks from events like Casual Connect, Assembly etc. GDC has a free section now where you can get videos and slides from various presentations.

I found this article on gamasutra to be a good starting point.

and seen this over there just now.

I would also look into getting familiar with trackers such as OpenMPT. I’ve used this to create 3-4 minute long ambient loops under 200kb which worked great on a Unity IOS title i did.
