InactiveHello,
My name is Christopher Norby, I am a composer working on a PhD at the University of Ulster, Magee Campus, Derry. I am seeking to write music for video games, and simply cannot find any opportunities. I would love to write music for any game project. I can compose/orchestrate and conduct live orchestral music or produce synthetic orchestral music and electronic music. I have worked on a student project of developing an online game before which didn’t quite get off the ground… but I did write music for it and have some music samples at http://www.myspace.com/christophernorby. I’d love to work on something and just love collaborating with people, so if anybody’s up for just get in touch!
Best wishes and hopefully chat soon,
Christopher

InactiveHi Christopher,
Welcome to the forum!
I’m sure you’ve gathered that there isn’t much going on in Ireland in general in the games field, but it’s picking up.
Of course it’s easy to get work in games for no money – but this was just posted, regarding sound effects and music relating to an open-source game project that will use Blender.

I’m sure there’ll be some sort of payment – but given the short length of time to complete, they may require experience etc.
Claire Fitch on the boards ( fitchsounds.com ) might be able to give you some advice also on what software that most game studios use etc. Claire made some excellent music for a serious games project we developed recently.
