Hi,
We have a position in work coming up for someone with some OpenGL experience. Its not games related at all. But i want the job as id love some experience with OpenGL for my CV. Im in the job 6 months, first job C++ programming, first job out of college basically.
I need to convice those in management that i can learn OpenGL quickly enough to do the job so im wondering if any games guys here know of any course they can recomend me to suggest to them to train me up?
I saw one on Frankfurt on the 10-14th of September this year here: http://www.bignerdranch.com/classes/opengl.shtml when i did a quick google. Although it’s a little too far off. Id need something in July really to get me started learning.

Tell them you’ll take on some of the work outside of your own stuff while they find someone for the position. Then learn opengl yourself, it isnt hard. As for a 2800 quid course seems a bit pricey for what they show you on it. Personally i dont think you can learn something like that in 5 days, ive done similar courses and havent learned much, due to the amount to cover in a short period of time.

Yeah youre right of course, learning it myself would be the best way to go and i know it wouldn’t take me long to do it.
But im thinking along the lines that if you have a cert or training course done in OpenGL then managers take more notice and i might be in a better position to put myself forward for it.
