Learn how crowd simulation and artificial intelligence play a role in feature film animation with examples from Pixar Animation Studios’ Wall-E and Ratatouille. From the production pipeline to step by step shot breakdowns, you’ll see how cartoon rodents run in a pack, robots obey traffic laws, and crowds of passengers fare in a tilting spaceship.
The speaker is Paul Kanyuk who is a Technical Director at Pixar Animation Studios with credits on Cars, Ratatouille, Wall-E, and the upcoming film Up. Paul was educated at the University of Pennsylvania, teaches at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and specializes in crowd simulation, procedural shading, effects and rendering.
