Right, considering that the usual slagging has taken over the other thread, here’s a vote.
When suits you for the Christmas shindig?
Before Xmas – (ie week leading up to Xmas)
After Christmas (between xmas and new years)
New Years (you can guess this one)Jamie

-
22/11/2005 at 12:58 pm #27532AnonymousInactive
Second that (not around post-22nd) and I really want to make a ‘dig before end of year… unless I manage to sweet-talk the gd.ie team about the Golden Spids’ do?
-
22/11/2005 at 2:59 pm #27536Aphra KKeymaster
well now we should probably talk about the golden spiders do on the 1st and see who is interested in going. It will have to be each person paying for themselves but I wouldn’t want to go if I was Billy no mates…lets take this discussion over to the golden spiders thread…
Aphra.

-
01/12/2005 at 2:51 pm #27919Aphra KKeymaster

could/should we do something different for Christmas or just go for a few pints as usual
Aphra.

01/12/2005 at 4:36 pm #27931AnonymousInactive
Such as?
-
01/12/2005 at 5:12 pm #27935Aphra KKeymaster
no idea.. maybe we could go ice skating in Smithfield or something
or something involving food – cheap n cheery..
or music but not the usual places :)
Aphra.
-
01/12/2005 at 5:14 pm #27936AnonymousInactive
We could all go watch the doom movie :) I veto ice skating though – Ive gone skating once in my life and broke my arm, gone skateboarding once in my life and broken my leg and gone roller blading once in my life and sprained my wrist.
Apparently I wasnt particularly well balanced as a kid :)

-
05/12/2005 at 9:50 am #27993Aphra KKeymaster
who wants to take numbers for the cinema and book tickets. Unfortunately I will miss the movie but will catch up with you after.
Aphra.
-
05/12/2005 at 11:14 am #27995AnonymousInactive
[snorkel voice]so, is it the 16th or not? If the 16th, I’m game for movie + whatever + will provide rides (for 3) if needed from the Green or thereabouts in Center to Movie theater (depending where)[/snorkel voice]
:)
-
05/12/2005 at 11:25 am #27997Aphra KKeymaster
yes I think we have a fair consensus on the 16th…with perhaps others getting together with Omen and Kyotokid to welcome them home too!
Julian, my German friend who was up in Coleraine with me, will be around too.
Aphra.
-
05/12/2005 at 11:36 am #27999AnonymousInactive
What in Gods name is a “snorkel voice”?
-
05/12/2005 at 11:42 am #28000AnonymousInactive
A semi-nasal and semi-cavernous voice reaching you through the snorkel which supplies me with air, burried as I am under my run up-to-Xmas workload.
-
05/12/2005 at 1:34 pm #28014AnonymousInactive
I thought as much. Just wanted to make sure though! ;)
-
08/12/2005 at 11:17 am #28178Aphra KKeymaster
can you believe that our staff/student night out is going to doyles in Dublin – the night before the shindig…what is it about that place!!
Aphra.
-
08/12/2005 at 3:33 pm #28186AnonymousInactive
Aren’t you working in maynooth? or was that a vicious rumour spread by Darryl to disallow you from moving back to dublin on grounds of inherent culchie-ism?
Why would maynooth-ers party on in the big shmoke?Anyway, back to the point…
Where is this ‘shin dig’ of which you speak?
I have to present for my 100 day viva on the 16th, but if they really dont like me they might summarily execute my funding, and then I’ll be free to go :D
woo hoo… -
08/12/2005 at 3:53 pm #28187AnonymousInactive
The more relevant question is why Maynoothers would ever party in Maynooth!?
-
08/12/2005 at 3:55 pm #28188AnonymousInactive
Because it’s better than Cork?
-
08/12/2005 at 3:59 pm #28189AnonymousInactive
so what’s the plan for the 16th then?
movie + grub + drinkies…?*
*(NB: haven’t added in headbanging until the wee hours in Fibbers as I thought Skyclad would probably want to do it in himself)
-
08/12/2005 at 4:07 pm #28190AnonymousInactive
Good point Dave…..
-
08/12/2005 at 4:11 pm #28191AnonymousInactive
I’m from Cork! (well, born therein).
And I ate my shpuds, shkin an all…
-
08/12/2005 at 5:23 pm #28192Aphra KKeymaster
so anyway I have no idea why Maynoothers party in Dublin but hey they have decided to
I am under the impression that some people want to catch Doom on the 16th and then go for pints and some want to eat, catch the movie and go for pints.
I would suggest catching the movie early if you want to do all these things and still want to get into a put before closing time. I have to skip the movie/food but will be in the pub circa 10pm til late…Mahaffys again?

just had my 1st christmas party in dublin tonight.. 95 eu to get me home .. aghh .. jeeez .. this is going to be and expensive week..
-
12/12/2005 at 2:21 am #28249Jamie McKeymaster
16th is good here, although I’ll just be in the pub. Saw Doom already.
See you there
Jamie
-
12/12/2005 at 9:23 am #28250Aphra KKeymaster
maybe we can see who can offer people who have to travel to the shindig beds to stay overnight in Dublin rather than pay massive prices to get home. Staying in a hotel would be cheaper than that fitch! Unfortunately I have someone staying over that night already – anyone got a spare bed or couch to offer?
Aphra.

Doom at 6.40pm and 9.45pm in UGC
6.40 showing, food at 9pm and drinks after?
Sounds like it could make a pretty cluttered evening.
-
12/12/2005 at 11:11 am #28255AnonymousInactive
LOL .. aphra you must have heard i just paid 95 eu to get home last thursday … jeez it was worth it though. christmas parties ! i love em ..
where is UGC .. is that the one opposite the back of the ilac centre?
i’ll have to get home i’m afraid .. have 2 shows in the point the next day .. (nutcracker ballet  )
maybe i’ll just hit the meal and the pub too, thinking on …
-
12/12/2005 at 11:41 am #28258AnonymousInactive
I’m tempted to skip the cinema too and just enjoy a good meal and few drinks after.
Means we wouldnt be near Parnell St either, which I’m sure Aphra will appreciate.
Anyone any preferences for style of food?
Dave

anything .. pizza, indian , chinese … don’t mind.. i’d say it’ll be really busy as well , so our choices might be limited

anything .. pizza, indian , chinese … don’t mind.. i’d say it’ll be really busy as well , so our choices might be limited[/quote:bf08b29329]I’m easy on the grub front… There’s also Jaopanese (Yamamori)
agree skipping the movie might be best this time around if we’re doing the meal and drinkies
-

hey guys – just read 3 pages of posts, and theres no mention of a pub name except for aphra asking is it mahaffeys!
i’m in the middle of moving – but i’ll try to pop along for one or four :D
so, is it mahaffeys? -
16/12/2005 at 11:14 am #28402AnonymousInactive
tried calling a few times, but got no answer. Will try again after lunch – but I reckon we head there anyway and take our chances if we can’t book in advance, as I’ve only been turned away once
I think it is Mahaffey’s, Craig
See you all at 7.30 so

Enjoy yerselves folks!

see you guys later for some christmas cheer!!
