Could be true.
I think 2007 would show alot of arrogance (remember Nintendo) on Sony’s behalf. I know THE CELL is technology from 24 years in the future (just like the emotion engine) but at the end of the day it is just a bleeding chip.
Surely a company the size of Sony can get its stuff together for a Spring 2006 Japan launch \ Winter 2006 Euro-US launch?
I’ll be waiting for it – so far X360 is not doing it for me.

In my opinion, releasing the PS3 before it’s ready would be even more fatal than waiting until 2007. The last thing I want is some rushed system that will fail after a year or two on the market. Also, I still remember how many people had to take their PS2s back to the store after the thing kept crashing.Let’s not forget that this is a statement from Microsoft. A competitor is going to take every opportunity to undermine the opposition.
Take your time Sony, I won’t even be able to afford it until 2007 anyway.

So Ronny what you are saying is….
PS2: Launch early + with ‘broken’ machines + craps tools + crap games + very expensive price = Huuuuuge success :)
Whats to stop PS3 following suit?

Look on the bright side for Sony. Release in 2007 and some people will wait for it while lots buy the 360. Come 2007 everyone will buy a ps3 because it’ll be more advanced and shinier than a 360 and they make a killing then. Wouldn’t be a fight between them and ms then, they’d just sweep the board.

with nintendo japan aiming for spring 06 for the revolution and nintendo US aiming for autum 06 looks like sony going to be last to market with a generation of console for the first time, should be interesting.
HD-DVD version of the xbox 360 is a safe bet for 2007 IMHO

People with just “do a Dreamcast” (No offense Darksaviour69) with the 360…wait to see what Sony have before commiting.
Sony will blow people away at E3 2006; Spectacular games and $299 price :p

Am still unsure if I’ll bother. I’ve never been a console person but the constant updates to my PC are becoming expensive… If you can plug a keyboard and mouse into either the xbox 360 or PS3 and enjoy the likes of UT2007 I’d probably jump ship(assuming its online…) No keyboard and mouse no way would I touch a fps in a console….

Doubt cast over PlayStation 3 backwards compatibility
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=61430
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Why would you want backwards compatibility anyway?
[troll]It’s not as if you’re not going to get FIFA 2007, DRIV4R, Burnout:Look Ma! No Hands!, MGS:Now you See me Now you don’t, ResiEvil Minus 1:Timewarp, etc. on PS3, is it?
Anyhow – no backwards compatibility was always a given: how could they emulate so much Emotion in a piece of hardware that is not containing any Emotive chip, I ask you?[/troll]

I have to wonder why as well, I can see it as a selling point but apart from that I never saw it as much more. I think I played one Playstation game on the Playstation2 and thats was only to see if it would work…
