I think it might be time to get a few people together for a social drink in a local pub to come up with ideas for future events and to just have a pint.
Any suggestions for dates and venues?
Usually a Friday or Sat and as we face into Oct. not the bank holiday.
Aphra.

Sounds good to me.
How about somewhere like the Brazen Head? Means it’ll be close to Goa and ourselves, and I can see if I get get some of the guys to come out. If it’s after work, it’s usually not too hard :)

I know I’m new here, but I’d really like meet some of you guys. It’s always good to listen to the "wises", an occasion to get hints and suggestions for a newcomer. Of course if you want a newbie amongst you :D. I’m busy just this Saturday.
Cheers,
Marco -

newbies are welcome. Just PM us and get a telephone number for someone so you can contact us. Sometimes new people come and don’t find us as they don’t recognise us in the pub!
Brazen head is a little out of the way for people at the other end of town …but open to being persuaded.
How about somewhere on Capel street?
weekend of 9/10 good for me. Well the 9th, the Friday, is anyway.

Bump.
So Friday agreed? People arriving 6ish or later? Any more venue suggestions? -
05/10/2009 at 2:49 pm #44684Aphra KKeymaster
I hope to go to the Science Gallery on Thurs night for the social science and tech talk…
Friday seems like a good night for the shindig and time wise we usually go for a little later than six. How about 7.30/8.00?
I am open re venue….the church isn’t bad but very big so maybe hard to find people. ??

Sigh. I suppose it’ll do.

We really, REALLY need to get something like a Giant Cookie Monster with a GameDevelopers.ie t-shirt so people know where we are, and newcomers can have something to identify the right corner of pissheads.

Hi guys, Friday for me it’s fine. The only thing about the Church is that is always very crowded and maybe it should be difficult to talk… that’s all. Anyway one of my preferred pub. Could someone that is coming leaving his/her number on PM, just in case I don’t see the Giant Cookie Monster :)?
Thanks,Marco

aren’t there a couple of pubs on Capel street…around the corner from the church..which might be less crowded?
some of the Demonware/Activision folks should know some places along there.

I think Nealons it is – unless there are any major objections…
By the way… I see Leinster are playing in the Heineken Cup at 8pm…
I guess nearly every pub we go in to will have that on.
Should we meet about 7-7.30pm?

Once upon a time it was – what goes on tour stays on tour.
Now it’s – what goes on tour goes on Facebook !On the train and hopefully getting the last one home. No more sleeping in stations for me! ;-)

thanks to all who attended last Friday. I think Nealons upstairs was a winner – we almost had it to ourselves and a fire and food and good Guinness.
good to catch up on industry and other gossip too…

-
12/10/2009 at 3:52 pm #44725AnonymousInactive
Yep was a good night. I should have stayed longer to soak up more of the gossip. Were the results of the survey unveiled?
-
13/10/2009 at 3:10 pm #44728AnonymousInactive
Nah no survey results, Aphra was waaaaaay too drunk to sort it out :p
-
13/10/2009 at 4:59 pm #44729Aphra KKeymaster
well I told some people some of the results and just finished writing the first draft of the feature…so in about a week I would say it will go up here on gd.ie.
By the way…keep ideas coming for speakers for a possible keynote during the Dublin Film Festival.
Aphra.
PS no hangover here…back to OJ!

14/10/2009 at 12:26 pm #44730AnonymousInactive
I was hoping to make it down myself to catch up with a few – not old, retro :) – gd.ie’rs, but a few things came up at the last minute.
Hopefully I’ll be down for the next major one – it sounded like a great night!
