Getting mine when it’s right: 25/12/2006, early AM, gift-wrapped. :D And a day full of gestural rejoicing for gamers and non-gamers alilke (the way Nintendo meant it).
(so I guess I’ll be trepidating that little bit longer than you lucky mutts  however safe in the knowledge that it will be grabbed 1st off the pile in the store Friday 8th by well-intentioned hands that actually work there  )

I can accept people voting Lib Dem as a protest vote against Labour, but buying the Wii as a protest against Microsoft/Sony?? Surely that’s going a bit too far!
(Oh you so know that’s why you’re buying the cheap piece of junk) :P
At least Steph has reclaimed some dignity by waiting for Christmas.

I’ve already bought one console this year and still living down the shame of it, and this one doesnt even play DVDs, which is why I bought the first one :( I will upgrade my actual gaming machine next eyar to compensate though, I’m hoping for something like this:
Nvidia has begun shipping its nForce 680a SLI chipset for AMD’s Quad FX gaming-oriented dual-core, dual-processor platform. Boards based on the part are capable of hosting four graphics cards, eight displays, a dozen 3Gbps SATA drives and four Gigabit Ethernet connections.
The chipset can also handle four parallel ATA drives and up to 20 USB ports. It can host up to ten standard PCI slots, though with its in-built networking technology – including TCP acceleration and the ability to combine Ethernet connections into a single, fatter pipe – it’s hard to know what folk will want to add into those slots.[/quote:2ff0abc0c9]
How one can work without 8 monitors in this modern day and age is just beyone me :/Dave

They came as part of the package! There was nothing I could do!!! Then again, seeing the look of envy on the 10 year old kid’s face as I waited in line with the guitar pack under my arm was priceless. Made me feel so special…Dave

I’m tempted to comment “what’s Lib Dem, precious?” but then I live up here too…too far from the aul sod.
The Wii is a new and powerful force for good in a debased world of impecunious console tyrants, but one must not tred the path with haste – haste leads to waste, waste leads to anger, anger leads to suffering!

Wii – senses motion.
360 – senses ‘mates’.
PS3 – senses fear. -

Then again not many people in England know who the Lib Dems are either… :wink:Back on topic – what games you are guys looking forward to playing? I don’t see what the big fuss is all about. The few good games it has are multi-format.

Myself and four other Free Radicals are going down to pick up our at lunch, then back to one of the boys houses for a day of beer and gesticulating.

Got mine at 7am, picked up Zelda and Rayman Ravin Rabbits.
Solely been playing Zelda, very nice so far, combat is a bit clunky at the moment (well for me anyway)…
gonna try and get online with it later…

So.. No more feedback on the Wii? Anyone else manage to pick one up and give it a whirl yet?

i love it. The wiimote is great to use, and none of my originals concerns (mainly over tired arms) have been realised. Picked up zelda, which looks and plays great. Spending most of my time with Wii Golf at the minute. It just feels great to play – I didn’t think I’d get sucked into it, but just using your wiimote as a golf stick is really natural.
Also spent more time than is healthy creating Mii versions of all I know…. -

Picked up the wii on Friday. Zelda, Red STeel, Play and extra controllers. Flookin fdantastic buzz and great for drunken tomfoolery in general especially the bowls and boxing. Anyway I’m surprised at just how responsive and accurate the controls are- I expected something much more unrefined and dodgy.
Must say I really like it. It’s rekindled my waning game fetish. My arms are in fact quite sore- just twinging but there deffinitly is some pain there. I feel quite fit really- may get rid of those unsightly bingo wings.
That is all,
Mark

I got mine friday and done two days of non stop playing…mostly wii sports and wii play!! Arm was kind of killing me yesterday but suppose I just need to warm up before I play from now on!!
Got Zelda, Wii Play and COD3!
Zelda works very nice….only problem is that sounds coming from the wiimote are a little too loud!
Wii Play is fun for a bit but Wii Sports is far better!!
COD3 pretty much doesn’t have a feel to it! The controls are horrible! Just wasn’t made right for the wiimote!!!
Tempted to quit for the day and play some more Zelda but have stupid project work due next week!!!

Easy fix – At anytime just hit the ‘home’ button, hover over the controller pic and press “A” there you will find the options for the controller (rumble, volume etc…) – just lower down the volume for the controller there :)

Bah maybe I should of set time to even open the instruction manual!!
…I think the box just pretty much exploded and plugged in!!

Expand please, as that’s one title I’m very curious about (from vids and whatnot, I envisaged playing with “iron sights/sighting down the Wiimote”, which I thought would be much more natural than pad or keyb/mouse?)
:(

Played the Wii all weekend, brilliant craic! Red Steel is quirky enough but is completely playing on the novelty of the Wii and without the remote it would suck major ass but is kinda fun at the mo!
Wii Sports is my favourite so far, Wii play has some good games-the tank, pool and cow racing but Sports is still the best for me….was up till 4 last night trying to get to pro mode on the bowling! -

The controls are just horrible!! If you are aiming down the sight to try and shoot somebody and move the aim to either side the screen starts to move with it…which I think with a mouse is good but it just doesn’t translate well to the wiimote!!!
I may just have to spend some more time getting used to the controls but from first impressions it wasn’t nice at all!

I’m not a console fan, but I have to say that the Wii was well worth buying. It’s great to be able to use something like a light gun / pen again. Raving Rabbids had most of my younger siblings in stiches on the floor at the weekend and my bro nearly boxed the TV to pieces in Wii sports. Hell, even me mam can use it!!

Great machine. Wii sports is better than what i expected. Golf, tennis and bowling are all excellent. Makes you think how great sports games will be like Tiger Woods Wii, Virtua Tennis Wii…
One thing with the Wii is that im very interested in buying golf, tennis games with it cos of the class control system. Fair f%^&s Nintendo, great idea. Id never buy a tennis game for a standerd console for example, just wouldnt interest me. But here it has real gameplay potential.
I got Zelda and COD3 but havnt had a chance to play them yet. But first impressions of both are good. Still looking for an extra remote, there all sold out in Cork.

I never got the chance to grow up with Nintendo.. sighs at miss-spent youth. Good news is just found out the missus managed to acquire a Wii and some of the best games for crimbo.
It may be another 13 days to go but I know the wrapping will be the icing on the cake. dying to play golf…. never thought i’d say that.
Did anyone pick up Red Steel?

Id disagree with some of whats been said here about COD3. The remote is pretty good for aiming in it. Maybe your sensor above the TV isnt placed right? or maybe your just used to keyboard and mouse?
Fun game. Its my first time playing COD so im enjoying it more than veterans id say. Reviews say its the same old same old without multiplayer but its a cracking game for first timers, believe me. Im on the third level driving the jeep at the moment.

I’ve heard alot of people giving off about COD and Red Steel, but it sounds the same as the first time people played goldeneye and complained about the analogue stick, once you get into it a bit it becomes more natural.
Really enjoying Zelda at the minute, the dungeon design is fantastic, i haven’t enjoyed a game this much in ages.
