I mentioned in this thread that I was curious about development.
I’m going to put some of the concept stuff here, observations and details – starting with the next post to the thread. I’m very interested in any discussion around it.
On the programming side, a friend of mine in Canada has said he’d like to put some effort into making it happen and he’s going to recruit a friend over there who he knows would be interested as well. At the moment the chosen engine is Unity3D and the target platforms are iPhone and iPad. We’ll likely do PC and Mac later.

First sketches of the UI
here)The two boxes on the left are studies of the iPhone UI, the large one on the right is the iPad UI. It’s a pretty good comparison and doing this out on paper really helped decide whether my fingers were going to be too fat to afford some UI details.
Next I’ll start to talk about some of the Touch-related events we need to encode.

This is screenshot from Myth II pasted into the area of an iPhone and an iPad to show the comparison of size.

Good stuff, always best to start with paper, and even do cut-outs to test different positions and mix and match.
Re touch events, Gestures / terrain painting like drawing a V for creating a vanguard formation would seem like good idea.
Just looking at myth shot on the ipad makes we wish Bungie would get back to the mac platforms in a big way. Steam releases was great news for mac games though.

I’ve started out on paper. The mockup of myth there was to see what sort of sizes the units would be. Would they be touch-able targets. Pretty pleased with the results to be honest.

[/quote:69a3f77ba4]That is a good idea. We had played with a ‘gesturepad’ type UI but wondered if that was harder to learn.
