“Knowing Your Audience: Understanding gameplayers and gameplay”
By Dr. Aphra Kerr, a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the National University of Ireland Maynooth. Her book ‘The Business and Culture of Digital Games. GameWork/Gameplay’ is forthcoming from Sage Publications.
The seminar will take place on Monday, 27th February 2006, from 12.45 – 1.45 pm in the BDC at Letterkenny Institute of Technology.
One of the key challenges for game designers and third party developers is to know and understand gameplayers, gameplay and play contexts. This talk will argue that we need to go beyond individual designer preferences and biases to begin to understand differences between markets, platforms, players and games if Irish companies are to succeed in the international market place.
This will be of interest to staff and members of the public involved in the Computer Games Industry.
Admission is free.
The next seminar on the schedule is Professor Paul McKevitt of University of Ulster.
