State of Play 2018 is an Irish Independent Game Maker event hosted by the School of Media in the Dublin Institute of Technology, in association with the Irish Game Makers Association – IMIRT.

The event will take place on Friday, May 4th at DIT Aungier St and will be primarily organised around an open expo, game-based learning seminar, and keynote talks by national and international speakers.

The expo is an excellent opportunity for developers, students, researchers, garage or aspiring game developers to showcase their work to their peers and to industry professionals. The game-based learning seminar is new to the 2018 programme and will take place at 11AM in room 4-027, the seminar will provide a forum for interested parties in exchanging their methods, projects, and best practice in the area of the use of games for educational purposes in an Irish Context.

Some of the 2018 speakers include Jean-François (Jeff) Gagné (Senior Game Designer with DICE), Tyler Sigman (Co-founder and design director at Red Hook Studios), Vikki Ruttle (Feature Owner & ScrumMaster at DIGIT game studio), Llaura McGee (Founder of Dreamfeel studio, artist, designer, and game maker), Dave McCabe (Freelance Writer and Games Designer), and Dr. Bryan Duggan (Computer Science Lecturer at DIT and VR enthusiast).

The event will be followed by an after party in Alfie Byrne’s on Earlsford terrace, Dublin 2 (map).
