B.Sc. (Hons) in  Computing with Games Development, Level 8
Institute of Technology Tralee – TL811

4 year full-time course

Course Overview

We provide the environment that allows students with a particular passion, such as for games development, to achieve their goals. In an area such as computing the limits of a student’s potential are determined by the student’s commitment and effort. The programme has the scope to allow the student to follow their interest through a range of project activities that are embedded in the four years and in many of the individual modules. These projects and the work placement element of the programmes make studying computing at the Institute highly relevant to real life situations and future career opportunities.

The fourth year of the programme incorporates a full semester work placement in industry or an equivalent. Graduates note that this experience is invaluable in providing a sense of how they can apply what they have learned and see how the work place is organised.

As a BSc (Honours) graduate you will be skilled in research methods and project management and should be able to take on tasks as part of a project team and build up to leading project activities. You should be able to take responsibility for projects where you have to design, plan, undertake and report on your work and that of your team. You will be in a position to develop further your knowledge, skills and competence as a scientist though practice.
