Mid-Week Playtest Dublin #3
August 31 @ 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Hello again boardgame designers and players! On August 31st, let’s meet again to play each other’s games! People seem happy with the fortnightly event, so we have gone ahead and booked Thursday September 14th and 28th as well.
We have a room reserved in The Clockwork Door right next to Merchant’s Arch. When you arrive, tell them you are here with Celtic Cardboard or Playtest Dublin and they will direct you towards us. The space will cost us 8 Euro each, but includes free tea and coffee (including a good selection of herbal teas and a cappuccino machine) plus biscuits and other snacks.
If you are attending as a playtester, you will be invited to play prototype boardgames and offer some thoughts afterwards. You should be honest but fair in your critique of a game. Recognise that some things will be wonky and unbalanced and that is fine in the early stages of development. Remember that you are not playing these games to win, but to help develop the game ideas. If you’re not sure what to focus your feedback on, ask the designer what they want to talk about. Most of all: have fun playing the games!
If you’re a designer, please bring down any of your designs and be open to receive new ideas and make changes on the fly. We are requesting that playtests of a single game be kept to no more than about an hour long, you should find that you don’t need to play your game to completion to get useful feedback. This also means we can play as many games as possible during the event.
