Just thought id throw it up for the hell of it.
This is a building i made today, took nearly 4 hours, including texturing. Its a promo render for our game for our dare presentation on friday.
The circly windows, doors and support beams are influenced by an artist known as Alphons Mucha.
Feedback is welcome :)

Love the style of the architecture and the texturing is very nice also. Good work! :D -

Very nice styling Paul – it’s a bit “Tim Burton” isn’t it!

That looks great!
i’ve been looking at how to get a realistic looking thatched roof for some models we’re working on for the peace game.
Love the style of the doors and windows too, and it is a bit burtony isn’t it.
that’s only a good thing of course.

Hrm…there seems to be a good few of highly talented 3D Artists around here so I might aswell throw this question out now. For my (hopeful) Dare entry in 4th year where is the best place to start looking for you guys? I’ve heard Ballyfermot and DIT but I’d just like to know where to start my search! :)

I’d start with the Bally’er, especially now with the Diploma in Games Development. There would be quite a lot of peeps there who would be interested…..

By the way, Paul, do you happen to have a website or gallery where we could check out more of your work? Would love to see it.

Lovely thanks for the advice. I’m planning on going for a two programmer, two artist team. Would that be the best idea in your opinion?

I’ve already gone back to college once in the past 2 years Ronny, will have to wait another while before I go back again…. :p
gizmo,
I suppose it all depends on how talented the bunch are/how much work they can do/the size and scope of the game! -

Ah it can be a five man team. Yea thats going to be the problem. A friend and I have be throwing a few ideas around and were trying to get at least an idea of what we want to do before we start hunting for artists…

Im working on one at the moment Ronny, theres still alot if work that needs polishing off. Should be up sometime in May i predict.
Just home from Dare presentation.. Went quite well i suppose, but considering the panel was made up of mobile phone developers and dare organisers, i aint so sure wat our chances are, considering there are two mobile game submissions out of 5 teams. Dont know, im just too tired to think! Fingers crossed anyway..
