Is anyone going to GDC 2010?

I am going on behalf of my project: Game Brains

      ndrc.ie/projects/game-brains

If anyone else is going we should meet up in San Fran.

      Regards,

      Shane

nope but I will give you 50euro for the free nexus one. :)

Would love to go to Vancouver one but other plans always come up.

p.s. game brains sounds cool, any videos?

      Wow thanks for the tip!!!!!

Hmmm I am going to the AI summit. They only give it to you if you go to some of the other summits. What a crock :x

Oh well I’ll see if I can swing one of more of them anyways. I wonder if o2 will support it though?

It will defo be a nice replacement for my ageing Blackberry.

No videos yet. We are still in skunkworks. Plus we don’t want to release videos until we are just about ready to release a product. Otherwise everyone will think we are just vapour-ware :)

I was happy until I read this post. Then I remember I’m not going to GDC again this year :(

Best of luck with GameBrains. Have you been chatting to any of the middleware people in Ireland (Havok / Demonware / Instinct / Kore ), or more importantly some game dev studios about your project? Don’t about about vapourware tags, the customers aren’t going to have an opinion until they can evaluate it.

I see Steve C is talking about Kore at GDC.

I put in a proposal to attend the animation/physics talks etc. But waiting to hear back if i got approval. Unfortunately my next title is in its later stages of production during this period so we’ll have to see if i can get a few days off to get down the SF and check it out.

We’ve had a chat with a few of the guys from Havok. We are just across the street from them. So we can’t help but keep bumping into them. Plus I’ve met up with Steve Collins (Havok/Kore) to get his advise.

Does anyone really understand what Kore is doing yet?

Peter_B: You’re from Ireland or Vancouver? I grew up in Victoria. So I know Van very well. I may be up in Vancouver for the GDC Canada in May.

It’s a bit late to mention this now (as is past the closing date) but for the students here, the IGDA gives away some student scholarships to attend GDC each year (see http://www.igda.org for specifics).

I think this was mentioned at some stage previously in a thread? Would definitely help with the costs of going for any students interested in attending. Its something to think about for next year…

From Ireland (Tipperary) but live and work in Vancouver now. I know Victoria well. I’ve got a few friends from there and visited the island last summer. Very nice place indeed.

      Hi Shane,

Yep – Kore will be there, and I’m organizing the Lua 1-day tutorial on the Tuesday (not actually talking about Kore!). Maybe we can have a special GDC Shindig in SF :-)

Well there’s a few of us heading over from Demonware too and we would definitely be up for an overseas Shindig.

How about Fri night for an Irish Shindig @ GDC?

I know there’s a few others going who haven’t posted here.

Looks like I’m out at GDC now. How about Johnny Foley’s, 243 O’Farrell Street, Friday after work. There may be a few other game devs there too that evening.

I’m at GDC too. Will be there most of the week. See ye in Foley’s on Friday if not before.

Foley’s sounds good – not too far to walk and not so close that it will be jammed. Wonder if DemonWare are running the free booze trolley again this year? :)

      afraid not, Chris…

These days our marketing budget only stretches to t-shirts, hoodies, mugs, 11ft Predator statues for the office, etc. Nothing frivolous like trolley buses

I’ll see you there on Friday, isn’t the rugby on early Saturday morning too?

I’ll be there from 7’ish onwards. Had a look in on Tuesdays, beware, they are mostly seating people for dinner at that point, so you should just push on through saying you are meeting people that are already there or something to that effect.
