well the birthday one is a bit different as companies make presentations about their work and it is somewhat less drink focussed…at least at the beginning!

by the way can folks add an affiliation when they are e-mailing the events address? Handy for us to know the balance between industry, students and others and we can draw up a list of attendees. Some new names are cropping up which is great..

I’ll be thanking them again tomorrow but a bit thank you to the Digital Hub for providing the venue and security for our birthday event, to Gamestop for sponsoring our awards and to Upstart Games for sponsoring the refreshments.

All coming together nicely so far..

Yeah, but if you can’t slag off the most respectable person in any given situation, you’re falling short, and she didn’t leave me anything else in that particular post…I did use a conversion engine I found online, I didn’t look it up in a chart – if that ameliorates the crime at all. Probably not.

At least I have a cool sig – clumps of souls forever!

well in my unbiased opinion (!) pretty well.

I will write up a proper report and post images later. On the night there was a slightly smaller crowd than last year (40ish), probably given the bank holiday but I think our three speakers (Will, Sarah and Tony) gave some very useful insights into their companies and the casual and mobile games industry.

This was followed by the awards and the winners were
      1) newbie – nifty
      2) Stamina – Skyclad
      3) Salmon of knowledge – Mal
      4) Humour – kyotokid
      5) group of the year – Demonware

the event continued after in McGruders where gossip, slagging and the usual ensued…

      Aphra.

was a great night… nice to see a load of new faces, and some old ones agin. One of the best Shindigs ever, I thought (…although some of the best bits occurred in Skyclad’s living room after the Shindig was technically over – but that’s another story!)

It was actually Ian’s dancing that put me (and everyone else) to shame.

It ranks up there with his Eddie Rocket’s rendition of “Lady in Red” from last year…

Lol, just looking at all the post dates on the last page!
It took us 5 days to summon the courage to post!
I know I was destroyed (!) after 2 pints, a bag of chips and a quarter pounder, but the rest of ye?! (jk)

      Lovely to meet you all,
Very interesting chats, on subjects ranging from the correct pronunciation of “Yahoo” to the tribal political situation on the disputed island of Jersey – with a smattering of games… stuff… thrown in there too.

I look forward to next year’s event (or anything that happens in the meantime).
