      Hi All,

I hope this post is appropriate for General Discussion, if you would prefer it go elsewhere Aphra, just say the word. I will add a post to the jobs section for this as well.

I am looking to enlist the help of a Pixel Artist for our currently in development mobile title.

Right now, I want to get some screen mock-ups or concept art done but down the road I would also be looking for artwork for the finished game including backgrounds and sprites. For the mock-ups, 2D will be fine. In the finished game, 2D with perspective or isometric is a possibility.

Send me on a link to some of your work if you are interested and we can discuss further details, terms, etc.

      Thanks,
      Alan

      Hi again,

Was it something I said? :(

I haven’t had any enquiries about this piece of work. Is there no interest here for this kind of work? Did I do a bad job on selling the gig?

      Thanks,
      Alan

      Hi Alan,

The surprising lack of replies from other parties and your response prompts me to ask the question are there many other artists who contribute to these forums? I do 3d modelling/animation mainly, so even if I had the time (and no job)I wouldn’t be the man for pixel art.

      Hi Pete,

I had thought there were some artists on the forums but as you point out, it may well be that I am looking for something that isn’t their skill set. I know that there was some discussion of GBA titles but it may be that the people involved in that work were more like myself, more technical than artistic.

I may look abroad but I will most likely try to get the concept stuff done myself. The big disadvantage of this, of course, is that it will take me much longer to get it done than someone more skilled.

Thanks for your reply, it’s good to know that I am not throwing stones into a bottomless well! :-)

      BR,
      Alan

      Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who showed an interest in working with us. The required role of Pixel Artist has now been filled.

We were happy to hear from a number of Artists in the end so the skill of Pixel Art is thankfully very much alive in Ireland.

Aphra, please feel free to remove our post from the Jobs section.

      Many Thanks,
      Alan

I guess no one replied for so long since this site isn’t exactly “busy” is it. Posting it on Boards.ie might have got a better response or Creative Ireland. I would have applied myself but I’m only seeing it now. DOH!
