I mailed a CV to DC Studios global address, but no reply either.
I suspect muppetry is afoot.

In fairness, the new studio STILL hasn’t been announced…
April 1, 2005 at 9:50 am #19212AnonymousInactive
I think there already is one in Dublin, no? Werent they on an RTE program?
April 1, 2005 at 9:54 am #19214AnonymousInactive
RTE…dunno, its hard getting the reception over here.
Its been announced on their website too, but I think Tony was supposed to be making the official announcement and I don’t think its come yet, although I could be wrong. Maybe its coming next Friday evening….

April 1, 2005 at 9:57 am #19217AnonymousInactive

April 1, 2005 at 10:04 am #19218AnonymousInactive

April 1, 2005 at 10:16 am #19219AnonymousInactive
Perhaps they’re waiting on getting the office fully fitted before bringing prospective employees in for an interview?

What I will say is that they had 2 projects to do here in Dublin – one was a definite and the second would only go ahead of they could get the right staff
April 1, 2005 at 12:10 pm #19233AnonymousInactive
auch, Nay botha wee laddie.
Let me know the gossip after the shindig y’all
April 1, 2005 at 12:19 pm #19236AnonymousInactive

Looking forward to hearing the announcement next week, its good that the community on this small island is beginning to grow more and more….

Anyone know if TKO will be in attendance too?
April 7, 2005 at 11:38 am #19470AnonymousInactive
This is from TKO’s power point presentation for Dare to be Digital Ireland:
Founded in 2002
More than 100 employees located across 3 studios
PC & Console – Santa Cruz, California, USA
Handheld – Dallas, Texas, USA
Wireless – Dublin, Ireland
April 7, 2005 at 12:12 pm #19474AnonymousInactive
How many do TKO employ over here now, does anyone know?
April 7, 2005 at 1:04 pm #19487AnonymousInactive
Unfortunately, you can remove Santa Cruz from the PC&Console category…
60 people were laid off, the office closed and the CEO resigned.
April 7, 2005 at 1:08 pm #19489AnonymousInactive
So does that mean TKO are currently only developing handheld/mobile content?
April 7, 2005 at 1:10 pm #19490AnonymousInactive
Well they have the Glasgow office that was doing mobile stuff last I heard. Their main office is in Canada. Think they do a bit of everything there, but definitely console.

So they are down to about 40 people and no console\pc titles then?
April 7, 2005 at 4:00 pm #19530AnonymousInactive
Glasgow and Canada offices are for DC-Studios, not TKO. DC did not close any office.
April 7, 2005 at 4:37 pm #19537AnonymousInactive
Sorry…just scanned the posts and didn’t realise conversation had gone from DC to TKO.

April 25, 2005 at 12:53 pm #20271AnonymousInactive
I’m still trying to establish contact with DC too.
April 25, 2005 at 1:00 pm #20272AnonymousInactive
I am still unclear of the details of the new studio – when does it open
Will they try and get Irish\peopleliving in Ireland staff first or keep with their current crappy advert going (the one about positions available around the world including Ireland)?
….a local website may help too
gah, I hate being in the dark
April 25, 2005 at 5:08 pm #20283AnonymousInactive
TKO have 2 main offices, Dallas (handheld games) and Dublin (mobile phone games).
We (Dublin) are situated in the old MLE building on 2nd floor. We have 14 working in this office.
From what I know, DC studios are due to set up an office in this building soon. From working in the building, I have seen no office yet.
BoulderMedia are moving into this building also. They will be on the second floor as well.
Riverdeep are due to move in as well in 2 weeks or so to the 3rd floor.

DC STUDIOS, the Glasgow computer games developer, has acquired the rights to the sequel to the top-selling State of Emergency game from collapsed rival Vis Entertainment.
DC has signed an agreement with administrator Tenon Recovery and State of Emergency Development, owner of the rights to the game. DC will complete the development of State of Emergency 2 and arrange a publishing deal for the game and any further sequels.[/quote:19d8f58020]
Intro project for the Dublin DC Studio – complete an alpha stage game? You wouldnt need many staff….
Or is it too soon?
May 2, 2005 at 11:46 am #20518AnonymousInactive
i still find it surprising that a sequel to SOE is being made, the first one was a good laugh after the pub and a few pints, but after 2-3 hours(playing soberly) seems a bit routine and linear.
May 2, 2005 at 11:48 am #20520AnonymousInactive
Over a million sold = sequel.

Ok, its been a few months, time to drag this topic up again….
Any news on DC Studios Dublin?
August 15, 2005 at 11:53 am #23869AnonymousInactive
I never heard anything back from them since anyways… think it was the end of February when I wrote them originally :( :?
there was something in the irish times business section about them around june or so , an ida report saying that 30/40 or so jobs had been created at dc, similar figure for tko
August 15, 2005 at 12:23 pm #23872Aphra KKeymaster
we have Pavel looking into it. Apparently a company they were working with went under and effected them quite badly. We are trying to establish the full story and when they get back to us or we find out more we will publish the story.
