You dont remember Ken’s made statements about 4D in relation to the PS3?
Anywho, I just wanted to start an E3 thread.
I am most looking forward to a Pilotwings game, how about you?

Who’s Ken?
Whats 4D?
Who are you anyway?I don’t read much about the PS3, or any of the next gen stuff to tell the truth.

yeah pilot wings would be a good one.

lol @ kyotokid’s gif.
Wow, get a non-technical person to try and understand that sentence, lol.
Personally, I’m a sony whore. I found the 360 predictably underwhelming, and am shivering with excitement about the PS3.
While I find the Wtf (my own personal-use name for the Wii) interesting and chuckle-worthy, I’m reserving my flash judgements until we have more than, well, Flash to go on.Roll on the opinion-forming E3_2K6

The thing what’s disappointed me about the xbox 360 is that none of the games so far have been anything special. Does anyone know if the PS3 will upsample standard DVDs? Doubt it but hey I can hope

I hear the PS3 is just an advanced mediaplayer for FMV? Is this correct?

should be good fun, the big 3 will be fighting for the spot light! first it will be sony saying “look a how good <insert sequal here> looks (not as good as the cgi we showed last year)”, then MS will say “HALO 3″ and Nintendo, will say ” Yeah we were taking the piss, the name really is…” and then back to sony and repeat.
-
08/05/2006 at 3:51 pm #31376AnonymousInactive
Lookin forward to finally seeing wot the wii is capable of doing and how nintendo plans to use the uniqueness of the controller within games.
Hopefully some news on halo 3 too, and cant forget twilight princess, it will steal the show again this year methinks! -

Sonic can drive now. And there is a human princess. Xbox360.

That human princess is very human!
Really juxtaposes the bizarreness of Dr.Eggman (when was he Dr.Robotnik?) and Sonic’s overall cartoon style to a jarring degree! -

Nice Square Enix support for Wii.
Sony cant organise a press conference – its delayed.
Zelda looks excellent.

The whole press conference was very boring.

yeah its region free.
-
09/05/2006 at 11:49 am #31395AnonymousInactive
The drives are region free but you still have issues with the power supply and what not to worry about. If you’re buying first generation hardware I’d buy in your own country incase there are any technical problems. The cost of sending it back to the US would surely out weigh any savings. Will there be any issue with PAL/NTSC/SECAM?
-

Completely agree. For how much longer will this false advertising be allowed to continue? It amazes me that people continue to fall for it.
We did a pre-rendered video, but purely for Publishers reasons / internal conceptualisation.

Furthermore, now I’ve had time to let it fester, I’m really annoyed by the way the developer put in reticules and HUD elements to make it look like it was ingame footage.
If the future looks this good, I welcome it. But something tells me it doesn’t.
-
09/05/2006 at 4:59 pm #31417AnonymousInactive
Eight Days is compltely pre-rendered as far as I can see.
Hah, Boadle if you think thats bad, check out the trailer for Brothers In Arms: Road To Hell. Its absolutly hilarious, they’ve even rendered the same HUD that has been used in previous games.
Oh and did any of you see this awhile back, Activision ordered not to show “misleading” Call of Duty ads again. At least they can’t get away with it on TV. :D

Yep Boadle, thats the one. I particularly loved the part where your team mate gets shot and he falls into your arms…

Its one thing to be playing in a large open room, whats it going to be like in a small one. Some how the I dont see the wii controller being as much fun in a dinky little room.

I’m sure Nintendo will have a solution to that, the “Wii Room” addon or something.

So in order to play a PS3 to its full potential you will need to fork out 600 quid on the console and another, what, 2000-3000 on a top spec TV????
The tennis game at the Nintendo conference looked like great fun!
-
09/05/2006 at 7:50 pm #31429AnonymousInactive

Not exactly, the 360 is 200 quid less and will probably be even cheaper by the time the PS3 is released. :P
I take your point though. At the end of the day though, I would rather spend 2000 on a top spec PC then have to fork out the same or more on a new console and a TV that can play it to its full potential. I think HD still hasn’t got the market penetration to make it a big thing for this generation.
-

Just read Nintendos E3 report on Gamespy. All i can say is it sounds amazing. Hope the Wii is succesful, im buying one anyway. Ill buy a PS3 as well id say cos i have to play MGS 4 but ill definetly be getting the Wii from day 1.

But considering if you were to get a BluRay drive for that computer you’re looking at a cool grand. I still hold that for all the hardware going into the thing its not that bad a price. Still wish they had of left theHDMI/USB/ethernet ports alone. I’ll be getting a Wii and possibly a PS3 depending on my standing come November.
-
10/05/2006 at 9:50 am #31452AnonymousInactive
reckon ps3 considering the hardware in it isnt such a bad price, sure its expensive but what do you expect for a cutting edge processor, a brand new disc format. Look at it this way a blu-ray drive will prob be around the same price if not more by the time the ps3 is out. So for that price your getting a ps3 for free :)
Reckon ill purchase a ps3 and wii from day 1 if i can get one.
-
10/05/2006 at 11:04 am #31456AnonymousInactive
GTA IV is now launching on both formats simultaneously.
I am leaning more to Wii and maybe 360 if anything.
-
10/05/2006 at 12:06 pm #31458AnonymousInactive
I still have a feeling that Sony will dominate the market again for this round, but maybe not nearly as much so as last time.
I’ve no intention of getting any next-gen console for a good while yet, but I’m leaning towards the 360 at the moment. (Especially if my friend goes ahead and buys the PS3 when it’s released)
-
10/05/2006 at 12:16 pm #31461AnonymousInactive
I can’t see Sony dominating to be honest. MS will give them a real run for their money and I see Nintendo doing well, whilst not competing directly with either.

This time I think it will be much more balanced.
-
10/05/2006 at 7:10 pm #31483AnonymousInactive
Only because it had about a 40million unit head start. I really hope the Wii is this generations leading platform. I’d fear for Nintendo as a console making company if it flopped. I think I’d cry if that happened even though I’m pretty sure it won’t.

I think the Wii could really get Nintendo back on top this generation. I’ve had a PS2 and to be honest im just tired of playing the same old thing again and again. It has some original games alright but most of its best games are sequals to games ive been playing for the past 7-8 years. I bought a DS a month ago and im hooked on Nintendogs in a way that hasnt happened for a long time.
I reckon there wont be much of a difference between owning a ps3 or 360 this time around except for the odd exclusive title. The only major difference is the ps3 controller which could be interesting alright.

And Microsoft love Wii too
“Tell me why you would buy a $600 PS3?” Peter Moore, a Microsoft vice president, said in an interview. “People are going to buy two (machines.) They’re going to buy an Xbox and they’re going to buy a Wii … for the price of one PS3.”
….
“People will always gravitate toward a competitively priced product — like what I believe Wii will be — with innovative new designs and great intellectual property like Mario, Zelda and Metroid,” Moore told Reuters.[/quote:5811ff44c8]

I’m rather surprised people are defending Sony after this years E3. I mean in all honestly they completely dropped the ball this year, and thats saying it politely. The vast majority of their trailers were either pre-rendered, multi-platform or bog standard hack and slash titles. In my opinion, in terms of consoles anyway, MS and Nintendo came up trumps this year and hammered Sony in terms of their showings.
Even some of my Sony fanboi friends were completely stumped.
Simon: So what were you’re favourite parts of the the Sony conference.
Friend: MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII and Eight Days. Oh and Assassin’s Creed…
Simon: You do realise that the MGS4 was all pre-rendered, there was little to no info on the second and Eight Days was all pre-rendered too? Oh and Assassin’s Creed will probably be on the XBox360 too.
Friend: But…*goes silent*’nuff said to be honest. :D

lol? It’s a question of what you can do with that game machine. If you can have an amazing experience, we believe price is not a problem.”[/quote:cab319f73f]
But so far they’ve shown nothing that couldn’t be reproduced easily on the $300 XBox360….go figure. -
13/05/2006 at 5:16 pm #31547AnonymousInactive
Oh man…
I dunno how I’m going to finance my Playstation requirement (yes, that says requirement, so shoot me). This generation is just too damned expensive! I know plenty of people who want a HDTV for their 360, but it just costs too much. Maybe Sony were counting on Microsoft accruing a negative image on the HD issue, but if that was the case, they should have held off on announcing the pricepoint for longer, just so that the HDTV-Xbox association could be cemented before everyone went “$600!!”.
That of course means that Sony would have to assume that everyone who buys a PS3 already has a 360, which is an unhealthy assumption anyway.
I guess it boils down to that timeless question:
WTF are they thinking?! -
13/05/2006 at 5:33 pm #31549AnonymousInactive

I don’t get you. The more expensive Playstation 3 is also HD and they’ve made a far bigger fuss about it so why would you think that they were waiting for MS to get negative press about it? :? -
13/05/2006 at 5:35 pm #31550AnonymousInactive
Because MS were first.
I figure they were in a meeting last year and said:
Well, the Xbox’ll be out first. But if we let them push HD, then people will be more accustomed to the idea and rollout will be higher. Then we can come along with our expensive machine and not look so bad. -
13/05/2006 at 6:17 pm #31551AnonymousInactive
Ah…
The only problem in so far as I can see is that Sony made a much bigger deal of HD before MS did regardless of when their console was coming out, hence negating that advantage. Anyway, its going to be a long time befroe HD TVs are mainstream so I don’t think its something MS are worrying about in the short term.

“I think Peter Moore is exactly right,” Harrison said. “I think Nintendo will be the second system consumers purchase after PlayStation 3. I haven’t had a chance to check out the Wii myself, but Nintendo has a great history of innovation and has always done great things for gaming and long may they do so.” [/quote:0477618fa0]
Oh well at least both sides like the Wii or at least don’t view it as too big of an opponent.
For Gears of War, Xbox Live etc etc etc[/quote:0477618fa0]
I understand where you coming from, my point was regarding the comments that people should buy both an Xbox 360 and Wii or even now a PS3 and Wii. If its a factor of money people aren’t going to buy 2 consoles.

I thought the microsoft conference (especially the news on Live Arcade!) was great, and i plan to own one before 2020.
But if i had the choice of picking up a PS3, and playing a load of cross platform titles, or buying a Wii and putting an extension on my house with the money i saved not giving sony money, youll find me in my new “Wii room” playing Zelda till the early hours.

Indeed, playing this short demo I was amazed by just how disillusioned I’ve become. Having already played through and completed Zelda 64 and The Wind Waker, I can only hope the game offers at least something more than the tired mechanic of going to a dungeon, finding an item in the dungeon that is critical to beating that very dungeon, and then killing the boss with that item too. Repeatedly. Twilight Princess is really going to have to offer something more, and using the Wii controller in such a predictable way isn’t going to cut it.[/quote:5de69b57ad]
Isn’t that exactly what Zelda is all about? If you change that, surely you’re not making Zelda anymore… -
