Is this a “see how many employers you can have in 1 year” challenge ??

Been there done that. I worked in a company that got bought out by another company, which then got bought out by another company, which in turn got bought out by yet another company.
It was pain in the ass, and all it led to was disillusionment, resentment and a high employee turnover. -

See this is what happens when EA need to keep performing at such a high level, this year SCi, next year Ubisoft.
GRRR.
I’d prefer if Midway bought SCi tbh.

I wouldn’t be surprised, Ivan. EA already own 20% of Ubisoft. I think we’re facing a very serious scenario where EA will completely dominate development and publishing. Some would say they already are. I’m not the typical “I hate Microsoft and EA” type, but it still concerns me greatly.I’m going off to the bookies now to see what odds I can get for Ivan and Damian both working for EA by the end of next year. :P

works out good for you damian if ye get bought by EA seeing as they’re probably more likely to buy SCI if its between Midway and EA. Means ye’ll have good stability and also unlikely they’ll have ye working over time after the problems they’ve had to resolve recently.
Does mean EA will have acquired a nice little IP in the form of tomb raider..

You will have to get your personal EA barcode tattooed onto the back of your neck though…..

1. Where did EA come from?
2. Where did Midway come from?
3. I’d disagree with your comments peter….in a big way :)Other big IPs are Hitman (IO) , Conflict (Pivotal), Champ Man (BGS)

As the legend goes, EA came from the burning depths of hell, when a once mighty demon who owned the Hells Pass Coffee Company enraged Satan by buying out his competitor, thus breaking hells very stringent monopoly laws. Thus Satan cast the upstart out of hell to roam the earth. One dark night, the demon, still saddened at his exile, decided to form a videogames company, concentrating soley on the lucrative sports franchise sector. Using his demonic powers he brough unparalled success to the company. But his old ways were not forgotten and he began buying out his competitors…..and to this very day he sits on his fiery throne in Redwood, his evil eyes searching for the next poor company to crush under his burning fist.

Although, I’d rather be a $100 million waste of space then a $1 waste of space…. if you’re gonna do it, do it in style! ;)

Well, there are 2 suiters.
One back in June, but doesn’t seem to be following up and one last week.
Still no names mentioned -

While Electronic Arts is by far the largest of the named suitors, the company… isn’t known to have any appetite for massive acquisitions such as this one, and while SCi’s properties are potentially attractive, there would be huge overlap between the two businesses which it would be expensive and wasteful to remove.
Of all the named suitors, Midway is perhaps the most intriguing. The firm has been increasingly bullish over the past couple of years… Since then, Midway has bought out a number of large North American developers and now operates a formidable range of internal studios there, as well as clocking up several respectable hits in its portfolio of titles.
However, it remains almost entirely US-focused, with little in the way of European operations – and while acquiring a major European publisher like SCi would be a huge step for the company, probably doubling it in size overnight, the prospect of acquiring one with a strong, self-sufficient management team and good profit prospects is likely to be appealing to the firm.[/quote:1723b88060]excerpted from: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?section_name=pub&aid=12472

I remember my old english teach throwing hissy fits when someone used the phrase “In my opinion” in an essay.
Thus, I never developed an opinion.
