InactiveOf late there has been little or no talk of games on the Forum, so here is the game journal, a place where you can write about what you’ve been playing recently and how your finding it.
Started playing Breath of Fire 2 yesterday on me GBA, found it quite good to be honest, although you would have to be an RPG junkie to appreciate it’s “crap graphics great gameplay” approach, the music is quite catchy in it, as is the combat system. Also finished Metal Gear on the Cube, played the original years back but wanted to see what Kojima and Miyamoto could bring to the table this time, and to be honest apart from a few flashy cut-scenes nothing ground breaking was evident, even the camera was left at it’s “too far away to see snake” location, but still it’s better than alot of the crap around today. So going to continue playing BOF 2 tonight and maybe alittle bit more Morrowind….

Well Ian are you trying to say I’m gonna get fat and lazy from playing games eh?…..or are you merely pointing out that GTA is a game and that we are talking about it, Quite a dilemma really???????

Inactivegot harvest moon its a wonderfull life in gamecube. didnt like it at all! it started out promising but it eventually bored the pants off me. if i wanted to actually do boring repetative tasks with my spare time i would just go to work!
In the end i brought it back, got my sixty euro refund and used that to getr metroid prime(excellent) and also luigi’s mansion which is in my opinion, equally as entertaining. anyone else have any opinions on harvest moon on gc? -

InactiveI have it, and don’t mind playing games that take ages to get somewhere in – especially if the whole world evolves; but for now I really don’t have the time for HM.
It would take 2 years of “half an hour twice a week” to get anywhere. Unfortunately the damn thing takes up a huge amount of memory on the memory card, so I’ve deleted it to make way for Mario Golf, which everyone else likes. That means it probably it won’t be played until I’ve alot more time on my hands.

InactiveI also have HM, and played about 12 hours a few weeks back but soon lost interest, it is a lovely game and I couldn’t bring myself to trade it in, maybe some day i’ll go back to it….

Inactivegamestop just opened in derry, they were doing an offer where you trade in any 3 games (as long as their resale value is over a tenner) and you get it free.
It is pretty good actually, few dodgy missions, camera can be annoying at times but it’s enjoyable.
on another note Omagh’s excellent for shopping for games at the minute, the game down there is struggling against the Xtra-game and has loads of offers on, plus they’re one of the only game stores in the north still doing Dreamcast and N64 stuff.

InactiveFull Spectrum Warrior’s not a bad game at all… nothing terribly original, but the control scheme is fantastic – a lot of complexity distilled into a very neat interface
not being able to control your troops directly takes a bit of getting used to though, but it doesn’t seem to hamper the immersiveness

InactiveWell Nooptical started play FSW last night, and it’s pretty good, very realistic. I like the feel of the game but it’s all a little “Full Metal Jacket” for my liking, I mean the Americans are great but come on, their not all that ‘hard’. still the gamplay is good……

InactiveBought Metal Gear Solid 2 – Substance (XBox). Put it on at the weekend…is it me or is the control system horrible? Does it improve?
In fairness I didn’t give it a good playing cos I’m too busy with Project Gotham at the moment.

InactiveAs in the interface?, or the way Snake/Raiden is moved?
Anyway MG SOL wasn’t great by any stretch of the imagination, such a great story hampering such a great concept, a bit of a ‘curates egg’ really.

InactiveMainly the movement in the isometric view and then having to switch to first person to look around and aim and then back to isometric and on and on and on…
Heard lots of good things about it, so I was jsut wondering if i was missing something.

Inactiveplayed on both the ps2 and xbox versions and have to say that its one of the only games where the control feels better on a PS2 pad

InactiveControlling Raiden is akward to say the least, but the game does have some good points, it’s just not a patch on the original(and no not the 1988 MSX version).

InactiveFinished the story part of spidey 2 at the weekend, it goes all open ended then. Still good for the odd blast though.
Started playing Evil Dead: Fistfull of Boomstick, quite enjoyable mindless hack and slash with a few “find-the-key-open-the-door” puzzles. Bruce Campbell voicing is always a bonus though.

Managed to get my hands on BC’s latest film “Bubba Ho-Tep” and it rawks. Basically it’s Elivs (bc) and (a black) JFK Vs an egyptian mummy, set in a nursing home in texas. You can only get it on reigon 1 tho, its on playusa.com’s top ten sellers though.
