"EA has announced it is to shut down the servers for some of its past PSP releases."
I don’t own any of the titles but this is ridiculous! You spend good money on a game with online play and then the servers go bye bye a year or two down the line. There is no loyalty in the games industry to the consumer! Some companies think loyalty to a fan base (pumping out a sequels) = loyalty to the consumer. I does not!
In my mind if there are still enough people on the server to make multiplayer (or what ever online service was offered) still workable for the player then though EA should have to foot the costs of the damn servers. Use may trail off after a few years but this is a cynical move by EA. And they are not the only ones who do this.
(From September 1st, FIFA 06, 2006 FIFA World Cup, Fight Night Round 3, Madden NFL 06 and NBA Live 06 will no longer be playable online, while Need for Speed Most Wanted is destined to suffer the same fate on November 1st.)

Thats ridiculous alright, I wouldn’t mind if they were cutting off service to games from 2005 or earlier but games from 2006 bit of a joke really.

EA titles listed as 2006 games would have come out in 2005 ;)

Nah he’s lyin I checked…
Had to check though!
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 release date:
US: August 28, 2007 Europe: Sometime August-Sept, 2007
But PGA Tour 07 was out US: October 10, 2006…. So 08 is 43 days earlier than last year so my math skills tell me that by 2012 there will be a just 6 months between releases.
