Gd person/group of the year = Star Cave Studios i reckon deserve that one.
Humour = Kytokid reckon.
as for the rest dunno?
would have said stamina to ronny or omen, have both of them won it already, if not? give it to the other :)

yes Pete, Omen and Ronny have proved their stamina already and are in our hall of fame!
I had a look at sign up dates and no of posts last night and it looks like there are some other contendors like Mal, Skyclad, Ian H and boadle.
Mal and boadle signed up on the 31 March 2003 and have 549 and 399 posts respectively. Ian signed up on the 23 June 03 and has 689 posts. Mind you skyclad signed up on the 5 August 2003 (no he wasn’t here from the beginning!) and he has 992 posts!
So there are two elements to stamina, how long you have been involved and the no of posts..
food for thought…
Aphra.

by the way, if you think no-one qualifies this year for a particular award, i.e there was no humour at all on the boards, feel free to say so.
We don’t have to award all of them every year!!
keep ’em coming..

actually, are we allowed nominate more than one person for an award?
-
03/04/2006 at 4:51 pm #30538Aphra KKeymaster
well it would complicate things a little – you could nominate two people if you think both should get it…i.e. it should be shared..worth giving a reason why…

the definitions are not ‘positivistic’ in any way…they are more intrepretative, as I like to say to my fieldwork class…. :)

HA HA! score…I knew my evil plans would pay fruit, now all I have to do is figure out how to upload my consciousness so that I can escape these cruel bonds and leave an empty shell to meet the sisyphean task of indentured publication expectation…blogosphere here I come.
-
04/04/2006 at 11:15 am #30613Aphra KKeymaster
I don’t think they rate that in the RAE!
maybe under esteem or something…
Aphra.
-
04/04/2006 at 12:04 pm #30620AnonymousInactive
Well I meant I could sublime into the blogosphere, let my fingers do the publishing, but of course I’m only…comprehensible…half the…time…

Hmm, I’m still thinking…
When’s the deadline for applicants? I think most people who I think should win have already been mentioned, but I’ll mull it over.

I would like to have the voting finished by Monday the 24th of April if possible..
once you start thinking about it you realise that some people who have made a really big contribution to the boards have yet to get an award as well as the need to recognise institutions, groups and organisations outside gd.ie who are making an important contribution…for one thing..the Digital Hub organised a month of game related events last year..for another some of the first degree courses were established which is no mean feat if you have ever tried to get a new course validated…the redesign and reprogramming of gd.ie was all done by volunteers, I could go on and on but I might bias the voting :)

Called into the Digital Exchange yest. to take a look at the room for the gd.ie birthday..it is rather posh with a podium, two screens, roving and other mikes etc..they are going to leave us the couches as well as chairs so it should be a nice space to hang out in for the evening..

by the way we are sending out the e-mail invites this week. We already have a database of people to send it to but if you know of someone we should be inviting and seem to have missed out please do let us know.

Aphra – don’t bother with mine as I’m out of the country from Fri 14/07 (ungodly AM) to Sun 23/04, and doubt I’ll have email/web access for the duration.
But do count me in @ Digi-Hub on 28/04 :D

I am having difficult deciding who to vote for. I have been less active on the boards the past while so I’m a bit out of the loop on who should be voted for in the important awards…..and by important awards I of course mean “The Humour Award”! But I will give it a go anyway:
Newbie: No idea to be honest…..so won’t just vote for any old joe!
Stamina: Skyclad will get my vote too
Salmon: Mal (i’m not calling you a salmon just trying to save time!)
Humour: No idea…..but I will guess on this one…..erm….Kyotokid
Thing of the year: hmm…..Digital Hub, if that is a valid vote?
-
12/04/2006 at 12:49 pm #30891AnonymousInactive
Can I (-Dare I ) be a total cop-out and second each vote per Dave’s post immediately above, whilst I still have time and some breath left in me to do so? 8)
I’ll add a vote for Thing of the Year to Aphra’s book, if there’s a tie at counting time
