KeymasterI was very sorry to hear about PopCap but it looks like there is some need for some local match making given that many local companies are still hiring – see our jobs section for jobs in Demonware, Zinc, Activision, Digit etc…
I wonder should we try and informally get people together towards the end of Sept..for some word of mouth info sharing etc…
Would that be useful I wonder?
I am open to suggestions

InactiveAndrea (roundcrisis) and I were just discussing organising a gamedev meetup.
I have access to a room (via work) in Temple Bar (Eustace Street) which can seat around 18 people (10 at a conferance table, 8 on sofas). It’s quite nice and people could bring their own drink.
I’ll just have to book it if people want to go ahead.
If that’s not big enough, do people have other suggestions? Isakaya is nice but it can be quite loud.

How about next thursday the 13th?

Keymasterso I think we have two events? – a meeting and then an after shindig…or am I wrong?
was the focus of the gamedev meeting to be on the indie bundle?

InactiveYeah, we’ll have a general meeting here on Eustace Street and then head across the road for a few pints after.
I don’t think there is any particular agenda for the meeting yet, we just wanted a space where we could talk. Isakaya tended to be too load for proper conversation.
Saying that I think putting items on an agenda could be very helpful. I’m not involved with the indie bundle but maybe Paddy or Andrea have some thoughts?
Next Thursday evening, 13th September, was mentioned. How does that sound to everyone?

Keymasterthat evening is ok with me if we can get the room.
Probably good to have some sort of agenda..

InactiveI have booked the room from 6pm on Thursday 13th September. We’ll start the meeting at 7pm.
I’ve confirmed seating for 18 and can get another four chairs if necessary. Here is a picture of the room:

InactiveIt would be really helpful to put a schedule in place for the meeting.
Would anyone like to discuss/showcase their game, or perhaps some aspect of development and/or marketing/publishing?
Any other points/ideas that people would like to raise for discussion?
Is there anything to discuss on the Irish indie bungle?
Thanks,
Mark

InactiveHi guys,
I’d definitely be up for a few scoops and a meet-and-greet, and might be interested in the meeting too.
What’s the agenda for the meeting? My background is localisation and QA, so I’m happy to share my experience or answer questions if anybody’s interested…

InactiveSimilarly, I know of a few roles going for QA mainly. I know most would rather stick to QA in games but if anyone is completely stuck and wants to branch out for different industry QA roles, I’ll be able to sort people out for work that way.

InactiveThat sounds excellent guys.
There is no set agenda for the meeting as of yet, though there is a lot that we can discuss.
If we run out of things to talk about at the meeting, there’s always the pub. ;)

InactiveHi there, I am new to the community and not working in the gaming industry at the moment. Actually, I’m new to the city and the country even! :)
But I would definitely be interested in joining if there is room for an aspiring Game Designer with ~3 years of experience in making games (casual and web games), as its always good to know the people in the industry.
Not sure if I could go for pints afterwards, but I’m definitely interested in the meeting.
Let me know if I can come, please.
Oh and by the way, one topic that could be discussed in the agenda would be how new Steam’s Greenlight had or will have an impact on indie game development.
Just my two cents.
Cheers.

InactiveYeah we’ll head over to the Library Bar after the meeting.
The meeting will start at 7pm at 18 Eustace Street.
We’ll be over in the bar at around 9pm I’d say, depending on what discussions are taking place.

InactiveJust putting it out there for the drinks end of things…
Pub Standards is on just up the road in the Bull and Castle. So probably chance to meet a good few other tech types and grab a few free beers!

InactiveActually dropping by pub standards with all the gamedevs would totally make sense
Lets go there instead of the library? (There is free drink :) )

InactiveThat’s a fantastic idea!
Pub Standards is "a regular meetup for web designers & developers, startups & geeks."
It’s open to everyone, so I’m sure us attending won’t be a problem. I’ll get in touch with them just in case.
More info here: http://pubstandards.ie/

InactiveIt’s a monthly tech/web/startup meetup. Very informal, very fun, well worth going along, and yeah it’s open to everyone so they’ll definitely let us in!

InactiveHi guys, is there still room for 2 more for the meet up?
We’ve just started a games and media company called Powwow as part of NDRC Launchpad. We’d really like to get to know other people in the industry and get some advise. -

InactiveHey everyone, I signed up here just so I could post this question.
I’d love to meet up with everyone when you are all heading to the pub.
Is there anyone I could give my number to and they could get in touch with me and let me know when you are all heading there?I’ve haven’t met up with other game developers (other than when I was in college) and I’d really like to hang out, but I’m not into the formal setting (I hate sitting in those more formal settings listening to my belly rumble the entire time lol).
Oh….
My name is Stephen McVicker, I’m developing a game called ZENFORMS: Protectors for iPhone. I’ll be bringing my iPad with me to show off the game. -

InactiveYeah it was a great night, we should definitely meet up regularly. Once a month perhaps? I can book the board room again.
Having the "round-table" discussion was excellent.
I never even thought of taking a pic, definitely next time though!
