Aww Tony, he’ll be crushed – seeing as you met him face-to-face in Coleraine last year at that talk you gave…

Leo’s a PhD student in my office, so at least his work (level) is a bit more worthy of the scholarship than undergrad. Whether he actually goes is still moot on the funding issue.

      Excuse me?

I went to GDCE as an IGDA scholar and it has not only significantly improved my understanding and ability within the job, but most importantly (IMHO) pointed me in the right direction for further study. Now while I’m sure a PhD student will also be in a position to make great use of the opportunity they’re no more worthy of it than anyone else looking to get into the field.

Best of luck Leo, and don’t forget to bring business cards!!

      Again, not my point…

In this case, the work will be saleable, not just the student. Thats the point. There’s a big gap between academic and industry research, and it hurts us as much as them…but its an unlovely, untrusting world, so possibly the only way to bridge the gap is face to face.
So, to belabour, he might find collaborators to further his work. Thats what I meant when I said his work (not him) was more worthy….
