      BBC News looks into Dr. Henrik Jensen’s software that simulates how light affects surfaces like skin; this was used on Gollum, the Hulk and in Terminator 3.

      I hacked together some photon mapping (the technique I presume they’re refering to) demos in college last year. It’s amazing how quickly you forget this stuff when you hit the *real* world!

      All those light scattering mathematical models, new algorithms and techniques and they still couldn’t manage to make Arnie appear human ;)
